Quick Hit Update: Giants Hire Ben McAdoo to Fill OC Vacancy

The Giants wasted little time in finding Kevin Gilbride’s replacement as they plucked a hot up-and-comer from Green Bay to lead Eli Manning and the offense.

Ben McAdoo, a protégé of Packers coach Mike McCarthy since 2005 in San Francisco as a quality-control coach, has steadily built an impressive résumé that most recently had McAdoo as the quarterbacks coach. That means Aaron Rodgers, folks. With the Giants having a little bit of a need in rebuilding the confidence of their franchise quarterback, you could do a heck of a lot worse than having a guy who has direct hands-on experience in helping along arguably the best signal-caller in the game.

McAdoo also served as the Packers tight ends coach from 2006 to 2011. McAdoo was also a candidate in recent days for the offensive coordinator in Miami, as well as a candidate for the head coach job with the Browns.

He takes over a broken offense that most likely will be missing Hakeem Nicks.  Most of all, his job is finding a way to make Manning comfortable again behind a porous offensive line that has more questions than answers. This could be a good thing; a brand new system means there’s no excuse for monkey business about getting on the same page. If there isn’t one hundred percent attendance during camp, you can bet some players from last season’s squad won’t be around for this season.

McAdoo has his work cut out for him, but knowing who he has worked with previously, it makes the idea of a quick rebound much more plausible.
