Really, the title says it all.
Craig Biggio missed the required 75% of balloting by just 2 votes, finishing with 74.8%. Also missing out is the Houston Astros team and fanbase, who still do not have a representative in Cooperstown in their 50+ year history. Note: Other former Astros/Colt.45s are in the Hall, but they went in under other teams’ colors.
No one can argue the inclusion of Maddux, Glavine and the Big Hurt, Frank Thomas, who all easily attained the 75%. Actually, one question we at LWOS have regarding the voting is concerning Maddux. He only achieved 97.2% of the vote. For the love of anything that is right and pure did NOT vote for Greg Maddux to go to the Hall? That is more ridiculous (well… as ridiculous) as Biggio being snubbed. Again. By 2 Votes.
Anyway, yes, Biggio will have his turn, as will former teammate Jeff Bagwell (he should make it on his surname alone). They just may have to wait until next year. Or the year after. Or the one after that.
