Recent scoring champion, Carmelo Anthony, his future is undetermined as there is much speculation that he no longer wants to be with his current team, the New York Knicks. The Knicks are now considering other options since they know this about Anthony. The big question is, where will Anthony end up?
Everyone knows about the interest between Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony wanting to be teammates. If Anthony manages to land in Los Angeles though, it may not be with the Los Angeles Clippers. Cap space is a huge deal when it comes to paying stars like Anthony and if the Clippers decided to go after Anthony, they would have to find a way to pay him, Griffin and Paul. The Clippers just do not have enough room in which the Lakers have more than enough. Unless the Clippers were willing to part ways with young star Blake Griffin, that has been loosely reported and not the first time it has come up since Griffin entered the league.
Kobe Bryant and his Los Angeles Lakers are struggling with injuries which has caused this to have a record of 14-19. Bryant has signed with the Lakers for two more years and knowing his mentality, he will not allow this to continue. Once the Mamba is healthy, get ready for some winning performances. However, help is going to be needed because of Bryant’s age which is where Anthony comes into play. It has been reported by several sources that the Lakers are targeting Anthony in the summer of 2014 when he is a free agent. Also, the Lakers are targeting Kevin Love along with Carmelo, but that’s a different story for another day.
Last but not least, Carmelo could be ending up with the Chicago Bulls. Anthony could be a great help to them – but not until star point guard, Derrick Rose is healthy. Anthony is considered as being a ball hog – hence him being a scoring champion and Rose’s leadership will lead Anthony into how to work his team as a unit because Rose knows as he has been at the top many times. A lot of controversy as been going around that Anthony will end up in a Bulls’ uniform but personally, I think there are too many better options for the young star that would also benefit the Knicks team if Anthony were traded.
There are a lot of options for Carmelo but I think it’s clear to everyone that he will not remain for the Knicks much longer as they have been struggling and the one thing that a star cannot stand – especially not of Anthony’s caliber is losing, which is all the Knicks are capable of doing from what we’ve seen thus far. Anthony is not driven by money, he’s driven by winning so we will be seeing him end up with another team very soon.
