AC Milan: International Break

With the international break happening, AC Milan have a little more than a week to figure out what they need to do in both Serie A and the Champions League to be successful.

After 7 rounds of Serie A, Milan have a 2-2-3 record, which is very weak for the Italian giants. Milan has had a very slow start to the season, which was not expected by anyone or any Milanisti fans – no one wants a repeat of the stomach-ulcer-causing start from last year. With a shocking 2-1 loss to Hellas Verona in the first match of the season, you knew something was wrong with the Rossoneri. After the Cagliari game, where they were victorious, Milan fans thought that the red and blacks were heating up. The next game, they drew with Torino, which was disappointing, especially in Ricardo Kaka’s second debut for Milan following his return from Real Madrid. Now, they have only been victorious in one game since the trip to Celtic in the Champions League, which is making an impact on their Scudetto hopes this season.

Game by game, Milan are playing their way out of top 3 hopes in Serie A, but fortunately the injury bug is no longer an issue anymore. After the international break, Mario Balotelli’s suspension will be over, Ricardo Kaka will be back from injury, as will young starlet Mattias De Sciglio who will also return. With Philippe Mexes still suspended, Daniele Bonera and Mattias Silvestre are back from the injury list to possibly replace Mexes for the remainder of his Serie A suspension. These players back from injury could help Milan fulfill their top 3 dream in Serie A, as they need all the help they can get. On the other hand, Giampaolo Pazzini and Stephan El Shaarawy are still injured, and are expected to return to Milanello in mid-November, still a month away. With these 2 attackers out, Mario Balotelli, Robinho, and the disappointing Alessandro Matri will have to step it up, to keep the giant’s chances of being in the top 3 of the Serie A alive.

Some breaking news for Milan is that they have officially signed 27-year-old French Centre-back Adil Rami from Valencia. Rami’s contract will begin on January 1st, where it will be a 6 month loan with a permanent deal in place to buy him on a 4 year contract. This is very positive news for Milanisti, because we know that Adriano Galliani is aware we have problems and we need players to fix them. Rami is a class centre-back who is very good friends with Mexes, and will give Mexes and Zapata a run for their money for the starting job at Milan. This is a great start to our January transfer window that hasn’t even started yet, as we look to add a creative midfielder and a new goalkeeper in the transfer window in January, if not, in the Summer.

No Milan fan knows what the future of this season holds for the Rossoneri, as we need to step up our game in both the Serie A, and in the Champions League. Hopefully our beloved coaching staff and players can pick up the slack as their fans are desperately waiting for something to happen.
