This is a story that we take no joy in reporting today at LWOS. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Adrian Peterson, his family, friends, associates and all who are stricken with grief over this great tragedy.
Police in South Dakota confirmed to Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star Tribune that the 2-year-old son of Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson has passed away in hospital. The child has been in critical condition for several days after he was allegedly beaten by his mother’s boyfriend.
Robert Joseph Patterson was arrested on charges of aggravated battery of an infant and aggravated assault earlier in the week. This latest development means that more charges may be coming.
The names of the child and his mother are being withheld at the request of the family.
Again, on behalf of the entire LWOS team, we are thinking of the Petersons, at this time and offer our deepest condolences.
Peterson, who has missed practice most of the week, earlier said he would play Sunday. However that was before his son passed away and the Vikings say that he is reevaluating the situation now.
