-The Game Of The Year certainly lived up to that billing, as A&M jumped out to an early lead, Bama woke up and took over, and the Aggies stormed back late to come within a touchdown.
-I picked UCLA to beat Nebraska, but definitely not in the fashion it did. The score was 21-3 Huskers early, but when I checked back in an hour or so later and it was 38-21 UCLA. Good for the Bruins.
-I’m curious as to whether Detroit-area hospitals saw an increase in cardiac-related admissions yesterday afternoon. That was waaaaaaay too close a win for the Wolverines. Waaaaaaaaay too close.
-Speaking of close wins, I’m probably not alone in realizing I may have underrated Purdue’s defense. They absolutely smothered Notre Dame- well, for three quarters, anyway.
-The Louisville-Kentucky game was more entertaining than I expected. Kentucky will still get killed in SEC play, but they stayed with Louisville and the defense did a good job on Teddy Bridgewater, at least for the first half.
-The ending of the Arizona State-Wisconsin game is one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen. Why did Joel Stave not spike the ball? I understand he thought he gave himself up, but why not just spike the ball? And what took the officials so long to re-set it? Just bizarre all around.
-What in the name of Darrell Royal is going on in Austin? Imagine if, eight years ago, someone had tried to tell you that Texas lost 44-23 to Ole Miss. You’d probably have asked that person what recreational drugs he had partaken in lately.
-Is Marcus Mariota-as-Heisman-candidate a thing yet? Because it probably should be.
-I’m looking forward to Florida State playing some ranked teams, because I’m starting to think Jameis Winston could be the real deal.
