While neither coach Nick Saban, nor any members of the PR department for the Alabama Crimson Tide have confirmed the news, it would appear that fifth year senior WR Kenny Bell has left the two-time defending National Champions.
In a series of tweets posted to his Twitter account Tuesday afternoon, Bell announced that he is leaving the Alabama football team and quitting football entirely to focus on his family.
“I know I’m going to lose so many friends and followers and get more negative talk from people but truth is I [don’t] care,” Bell stated, “[I].t’s been a nice run but I’m hanging up my cleats. … time too [sic] focus on my responsibilities MY KIDS.
“I’ve made so many memories here @ Alabama but some things you gotta let go. Salute to the team y’all keep grinding and win that championship.”
Bell was listed as a co-starter on the Crimson Tide depth chart at the Z-receiver spot. He did not have a reception in the season opening win over West Virginia. Last season, Bell has 17 receptions for 431 yards with Alabama.
In his career he’s played in 35 games, with seven starts for the Crimson Tide. He had 36 catches for 712 yards and five touchdowns.
