The Rossoneri advanced to the Champions League group stages by defeating PSV on a 4-1 aggregate on Wednesday. Milan had a great start with Kevin Prince Boateng scoring early to give them the early lead. With Christian Abbiati making a few key saves, Mario Balotelli finished a class goal to give the Rossoneri the 2-0 lead. They sat back on defence to preserve the lead. Then late, Kevin Prince Boateng finished an amazing goal from a great play with Balotelli and Andrea Poli. A good game for Milan that got them the win and some money to spend before the transfer window ends in the Serie A.
Here are Milan’s top linked players and transfer targets:
1. Keisuke Honda – 27 years old, 6′ tall. Honda is an attacking/creative midfielder who has 20 goals in 81 appearances with Moscow. While several other clubs have shown interest, including Everton, a deal for Honda to AC Milan looks imminent.
2. Mamadou Sakho – 23 years old, 6’2. Sakho is a centre back with 150 appearances for PSG. Milan are said to be in a two-club race with Liverpool, with the Reds also liking what the CB brings.
3. Christian Eriksen – 21 years old, 5’9. Eriksen is a midfielder from Ajax with 25 goals in 112 appearances. He is currently being watched Tottenham, and bid of around £12m has been reported by the Independent.
4. Davide Astori – 26 years old, 6’2. Astori is a centre back with 140 appearances for Cagliari. Cagliari President Cellino has said, “I refused €15m for Astori because as a player he is too important to us.” It was widely rumoured he was going to Napoli, but that is not now the case. It seems Milan likes the 26-year old so it looks like they’ll need to at least match or exceed the bid to add him.
5. Alessandro Matri – 29 years old, 6′. Matri is a striker with 27 goals in 69 appearances with Juventus. It was widely acknowledged that Milan would pursue Matri only if they qualified for the Champions League. With that out of the way, we’ll see if a bid comes soon.
Milan’s top priority is a creative midfielder or a centre back. Galliani has stated that he wants Matri as a substitute striker because we do not know when Pazzini will return from injury. We will see in the next few days what Allegri and Galliani have in mind to upgrade our squad.
