This event was considered one of the “Big Four” original pay-per-view events of WWE, along with WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series.
SummerSlam this year is turning 26-years old. It started as a pay per view event in 1988, with the first one held at Madison Square Garden. The WWE’s home arena is in my opinion, MSG, which is a place where the company has had an epic and great history. I never have got to go to MSG for a WWE show, but someday soon I hope to be able to do so.
Let me tell you, SummerSlam is shaping up to be the best ever in WWE history. Yes, we have seen many versions of SummerSlam with great cards and match-up’s, but this year so far we have the battle of CM Punk vs Brock Lesnar, The Beast vs The Best, as two Paul Heyman guys battle. CM Punk of course is now a former Paul Heyman Guy. Actually, I look for Heyman to interfere in this Punk vs Lesnar match-up. It is going to be a great match and we all know that both of these guys will “bring it” at SummerSlam 2013.
Another match to go down is Daniel Bryan vs John Cena for the WWE title, which we all know will be a great match that will have the fans on the edge of their seats. We will hear a lot of boo’s for John Cena and a lot of Yesses for Daniel Bryan – I can’t wait.
Other matches I think we will see are Alberto Del Rio vs Dolph Ziggler for the WHC, and Cody Rhodes vs Damien Sandow for the MITB briefcase. So I’m sure when it’s all said and done, we will all look back in 10 years from now and think this SummerSlam 2013 was one of the best ever in WWE History.
SummerSlam is August 18, 2013, on pay per view.
