Despite Repeated Failures, Manchester United Steadfastly Pursue Cesc Fabregas

Manchester United’s €30m pursuit of Cesc Fabregas from Barca has been met with resistance from Barcelona President, Josep Maria Bartomeu, stating that he is not for sale.

“The club can ensure that we will not entertain any offers for Cesc,” Barca’s vice-president said.  “Fabregas [leaving] is completely ruled out because he is not transferable. ”  Technically everyone is transferrable if the respective conditions are met, and it’s unsurprising they would have this stance.  First, he’s a great mid player, but a hard-line stance drives value up.

The former Gunners captain has told friends he’ll only return to England with former side, but Moyes & co. are confident of bringing him to Old Trafford.

The Spaniard has been on record saying his first priority is to stay at Barcelona, but his attitude will change if the Catalans accept a bid from United.  It’s all about the money – everyone knows that.  And it’s also all about how much money is offered.

Arsenal, as revealed in Mirror Sport two years ago, have a buy-back option on Fabregas and Barcelona must inform them if they accept a bid from another club.  Apparently supporters are divided on whether they’d welcome him back to the club based on how he left.
