Manchester United have submitted a £25m bid to Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas. It’s understood by many that United singled out Fabregas and Thiago as their main targets to help buff up their midfield, with Thiago recently signing for Bayern, the interest in Cesc has understandably increased. Papers such as The Times, Telegraph and the Guardian are reporting that Manchester United are submitting the bid on the circumstances that Barcelona need the money. They link the fact with the money they spent to buy Neymar and that Fabregas isn’t a first choice in the team. Linked with this is that Cesc wishes to have more game time to ensure he is in the Spain squad for the 2014 World Cup. Having said this, Fabregas has expressed his wishes to stay at Barcelona with the club also saying that he isn’t “Transferable”, although they haven’t outright said that he is not for sale. I personally can’t see this transfer happening because I doubt Barca would want to lose Thiago and Fabregas in the same window, but if Barcelona are willing to sell him, there is a small chance he might come to United.
Gareth Bale is reported to “Fancy” a move to Old Trafford this season, and with United set to place a £60m bid for the Tottenham star, that could very well happen. Although, Tottenham refused to comment on whether an official bid had been submitted, as they are desperate to keep hold of their Welsh Wizard, Chairman Daniel Levy has also made it clear he would reject all advances on their player from United and any other club. Several papers have said that Real Madrid have given up on their attempts to sign Bale this season and will look to sign him next year. Meanwhile Spurs are still trying to secure the Wales International on a new contract.
Wayne Rooney, claimed to be at the “peak of his career”, looks to be on his way out of Manchester United. After Sir Alex revealed that he asked to leave and more recently the comments David Moyes made about him being a back-up option (which were cruelly twisted by the press), Rooney is reported to be “Angry and Confused”. Chelsea have latched onto this opportunity and have submitted a bid for him and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be at Old Trafford for much longer. Jose Mourinho has also stated that Rooney is his main transfer target and he will try his hardest to ensure Rooney is at Chelsea next season IF he is going to leave United.
Manchester United’s Chief Executive, Ed Woodward is back in Europe for “urgent transfer business” and it’s about an “incoming transfer”. What could it be? Fabregas? Bale? Rooney? Only time will tell.
