Editor’s Note: We at LWOS are always looking for passionate, opinionated fans to add to the team. We are very excited to add JT Layden, a long time New Orleans Saints fan, to the team. JT will be contributing regularly on all things Saints.
In grade school, you learn reading, writing and arithmetic. But in New Orleans, they’re learning a lot about the letter “R”. This year the team looks to bounce back from an underachieving season last time ’round. The team is much better than last year’s record shows, and getting into a right mindset is imperative. So, let’s make our own “7 R’s for the New Orleans Saints”:
Re-birth – After the last year without Sean Payton, a handful of players and the addition of Rob Ryan, The Saints look to start this year fresh, full of new life.
Re-group – A few new faces, and a lot of old, the Saints staff and players need to learn to mesh with each individual’s style and abilities.
Re-establish – The top spot as division leaders.
Regain – The Lombardi Trophy. It’s all about eye on the prize this season.
Redemption – The road to the Super Bowl is full of twists, turns and lots of surprises, but the hard work is well worth it. Getting back at people, mostly the media who lambasted the team over the last year and a bit, would be oh-so-sweet.
Rob Ryan – I’ve caught a lot of lip from people saying he is not going to be any different for us than he was in Dallas. To that I say “wait and see.” It’s really a great partnership. After last year of Spaggs’ defensive blunders, it’s a welcome change. Let’s face it, The Saints players are hard workers who are not living in a Jerry Jones world. They are willing to LISTEN to advice and to LEARN…or so we hope.
With the season right around the corner, I’m looking forward to all that’s to come. With division rivals and some foes we haven’t seen in a while, this is going to be our best season yet!
So if you were born a Saint, just recently became a Saint, or thinking of hopping on the WhoDat Nation Bandwagon, well then “all aboard”, there is always room for one more. But you have to hurry, as we are about to pull out on the road to victory.
