At the WWE NXT TV tapings this week, it was Sami Zayn (aka El Generico) taking on Antonio Cesaro in a two-out-of-three falls match. The match was described as one of the best WWE matches in years. According to live reports, the fans loved it so much they chanted “Match of the year” repeatedly, and once I see it I’m sure I will think the same. I’m sure it was great because both guys are great workers in the ring and great wrestlers that know how to put on an entertaining match.
I’m quite certain that Sami Zayn will be a star in the WWE for years to come, but Antonio Cesaro is a different story. WWE has dropped the ball with this guy. I’m sure Triple H likes the guy becasue I heard Triple H is the one that hired him and wanted him in the WWE. Claudio Castagnoli, Cesaro’s real name, is so under-used and perhaps under-appreciated right now, and it’s kinda sad, but things may be turning around.
This past week on WWE main event, Cesaro had a 5-star match with Dolph Ziggler. Don’t forget this guy was in one of the best tag teams I have seen in many years; in ROH the Kings of Wrestling with Chris Hero who is now in NXT as Kassius Ohno. He is another guy in my opinion that is underused, but at least they have Kassius Ohno and Antonio Cesaro in NXT now. Don’t forget Cesaro’s run as WWE US Champion was 240 days.
NXT has a pretty damn good roster and a lot of the time the NXT guys put on better matches then the WWE roster. I would say only 6 guys on the WWE roster can work and are great wrestlers; CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, Antonio Cesaro and Randy Orton can all pull a good match out of anybody.

So if you are a fan of NXT, you should be excited about their future, and their future impact on the WWE roster for years to come. Triple H has done a great job pushing NXT and bringing the name “wrestling” back into the WWE and having pro wrestling return in NXT. Corey Graves is a future big star; the guy reminds me of CM Punk. The Wyatt Family is right on the edge of becoming huge stars on Raw this summer and fall.
