With the Serie A season coming upon us in August, Milan still has some major work to do. With Mathieu Flamini, Massimo Ambrosini, Mario Yepes and possibly Robihno all leaving, Milan need to fill some of the wholes. With Stephan El Shaawary announced that he is not being sold, it makes it a little bit easier for Milan owners on filling the squad’s major wholes.
There is no question that Milan needs help on the defensive side. With good left backs and right backs, (De Siglio & Abate) the centre back situation is not as good. As it stands, their 2 centre backs are Phillipe Mexes and Cristian Zapata (who just recently signed). That might do if they want to stay in the top 3 in the Serie A, but if they wanna go for 1st, they need to sign someone better, maybe a top class defender. There had been some rumours that Milan has some interest on Manchester United Defender Nemanja Vidic. Vidic is a proven defender that can really help Milan in the Serie A, and the Champions League. Vidic has done alright with United, but could be more of a crucial player on Milan. If Milan were to acquire him, it would really make their defense much stronger and you would see it in games.
There are also many rumours involving the Japanese star Keisuke Honda. If we are to believe rumours, Milan have a deal with Honda all readied, but Milan have to sell Robinho first. Robinho has agreed to personal terms according to twitter rumours, but Milan and Santos just have to find the right deal. Once Robinho is sold, Honda deal can also be completed, according to Milan rumours on twitter. Honda would be an excellent pickup for the black and red. He is a proven CAM and can really help the team if he is used correctly. He can play right behind Balotelli and El Shaawary, providing them with speed, passing and some scoring. Honda is also a good player internationally, even playing on an unproven Japan team, Honda still shines. I watched Honda recently when Japan played Italy in the Confederation Cup, and he was very impressive.
I really hope Milan can acquire these players in the offseason transfer window. They can give the team more depth and more of a chance of winning the Serie A, and having a chance to go far in the Champions League in 2013-2014 season.
Possible XI for Milan next season: (4-3-1-2)
Abbiati
Abate Zapata Vidic De Siglio
De Jong Montolivo Boateng
Honda
Balotelli El Shaawary
