ESPN’s Chris Broussard is reporting that soon to be free agent point guard Chris Paul will be staying with the Los Angeles Clippers. Rumors were always strong that Paul would stay in “lob city” playing for the Clippers, however it appears that the recent move to hire former Celtics coach Doc Rivers as the new coach for the Clippers has swayed Paul towards a definite yes.
Paul’s agent has reportedly called teams and asked them not to bother phoning at the opening of free agency to enquire about Paul.
Last season, Paul averaged 16.9 points per game, 9.7 assists per game and a league-leading 2.4 steals per game.
The Clippers acquired Paul from the New Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans) on December 14th 2011.
Paul was also a member of the 2012 United States Olympic Team that went to London and brought home the gold meedal.
