Johnny Manziel, aka Johnny Football, seemed to be on top of the college football world last year. The first ever freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, setting records for yards in the SEC and leading the Texas A&M Aggies to an 11-2 record, a Cotton Bowl victory over Oklahoma, and a star making performance in leading the Aggies to be the only team to defeat Alabama last season. It seemed that Manziel’s college career was one where he was poised for greatness and there were great expectations heading into his sophomore year.
However, something has gone amiss in the Great State of Texas. Early this morning Manziel tweeted the following on his twitter account @JManziel2:
“Bullshit like tonight is a reason why I can’t wait to leave college station… whenever it may be.”
Manziel later deleted the tweet and followed it up with the following:
“Don’t ever forget that I love A&M with all of my heart, but please please walk a day in my shoes.”
Despite the half-hearted apology, it appears that the damage has been done, and Manziel is expressing his frustration with the college game and his situation at Texas A&M. This has fueled speculation that Manziel will only stay for one more season and declare for the 2014 NFL draft. How scouts will judge him is anyone’s guess, as there have been some questions about his height. However you can not deny his talent, both running and passing, and if the Russell Wilson experience has taught NFL teams anything, it should be not to overlook a Quarterback like Manziel.
On the other hand this could be the typical frustrations of a college kid, and maybe analysts are reading too much into them. Still like anything concerning Johnny Football, its being put under a microscope right now. Hey maybe that living in a fishbowl feeling is the cause of Manziel’s frustrations.
