Transfer Banter: Jose, Fabregas, Rooney, Higuain and Fellaini

“The Special One” Jose Mourinho has his first press conference since re-joining the Blues. Love him or hate him, you have to respect him (well, maybe).  Will Schalke’s Julien Draxler be his first signing as rumoured?  He’s only 19 but already in the German national team and is a player of huge potential.  Or will it be Napoli’s superstar Edinson Cavani, who said “I don’t know if they made an offer for me, I just know that to be coached by someone like Manuel Pellegrini or Jose Mourinho would always be a pleasure.”  he would cost a fortune, but could well happen.

Barca’s Cesc Fabregas confirms he isn’t leaving the Nou Camp so the media bullcrap can stop on that one.  A message to Arsenal fans on Twitter, please, stop tweeting to Cesc asking him to “come home”.  His home is elsewhere now, so move on.

Steven Jovetic could be Gonzalo Higuain’s replacement at Real Madrid?   If you believe speculation there is certainly that possibility.  But where will Higuain most likely end up? PSG, Juventus, Arsenal – who the heck knows, really.

It’s increasingly looking likely Darren Bent could be joining Newcastle, which could be a good signing for both team and player.  He has proven that he can score goals at every level.

Surprisingly there is still nothing coming out of the Emirates with Arsene Wenger holding fire for now, but surely he has to spend doesn’t he?  This is a massive summer for the club and at least three big names need to come in to keep the supporters happy!

There is nothing more on the  Carlos Tevez to Juve story.  Sorry, it’s just been de-railed a bit.

Another rumour that has all but stopped entirely is Cristiano Ronaldo to anywhere.  Really, I can’t see him moving anyway, so it’s hardly a shock.  While we’re on Real, Real defender Pepe has been backed into evens to join Man City.

Marouane Fellaini is still an Everton player for the moment, but for how long?  There is certainly interest elsewhere, and someone is sure to nab him.  He’s a quality player, and is a step down in price tag from the big names being floated around like Cavani, Rooney and Higuain.

Rumours are abuzz of Pepe Reina leaving Anfield to Barca/Napoli.  Legit? I’ve heard nothing from a source credible enough to say it is.

I couldn’t go without an update on Wayne Rooney.  So, where are we again?  Right, stupid rumours of him to Arsenal.  Next……

So as the summer transfer market continues to heat up, at the very least it’s fun just sitting back and watching the firework display……
