I think explaining the exact methodology is not that important, but I can tell you I am keeping two spreadsheets that constantly take rankings of players (from internet forums and other sources) with a constant updating of the spreadsheet to arrive at an idea of the top players in the league. Basically, every week or so I will just post my Moving Average Ranking. The idea is I will keep this spreadsheet for many years and we can see the shift of players taking over older players. Right now I’ll give you my top 30 overall, in response to the recent ESPN #NBArank, then the top 10 for each position:

The idea is just the simple reality that the NBA is just the greatest TV show on earth. We have our characters (the players), a plot (trying to win championships), and just a shit-ton of great mini sub-plots. Then there are so many different places and ways to discuss the NBA after you’re done watching a game. Discussing a player’s game development is really no different from analyzing a TV character’s development. It’s really no different from people talking about Survivor.
