Let’s Play Ball!!! Two Start Pitchers

There are a lot of two start pitchers to  start the 2013 MLB season.  CBSSports does a great job listing two start pitchers in a nice table.  The listing can be found here.    Let’s take a look at some of the starters making two starts to being the season:

Match Up Special!

Jarrod Parker: Parker takes on the Seattle Mariners in his first start and then the Houston Astros.  Couldn’t ask for two better opponents to start against to begint he season.

MUST START:

Justin Verlander: Opens against the Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees.   I could really care less who Verlander faces, he goes into the rotation as long as he’s healthy.

R.A. Dickey: Dickey begins his 2013 season on the mound at the Rogers Center against the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox.   Indoor stadium + Knuckleball = great starts for Dickey.

David Price: Price opens against the Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Indians.  He’ll easily outmatch any of the oppositions starters.

Stephen Strasburg:  Shouldn’t have any problems against the Miami Marlins in the season opener, but could face a stiffer test against the Reds in his second start.

Other pitchers with two starts in the opening week and should be starting are:

Felix Hernandex, Jered Weaver, C.C. Sabathia, Adam Wainwright, Yovani Gallardo, Chris Sale, Matt Cain, Cole Hamels, Ian Kennedy, Jon Lester, James Shields.

AVOID!

Justin Masterson: Who opens against the Toronto Blue Jays and then the Tampa Bay Rays.  His counterparts are Dickey and Price.

Tomorrow I’ll take a look at all my drafted rosters.   I’m sure that a pattern in my drafting emerged this year (especially since I was having players stolen from me last night during my final draft) in terms of why I am targetting.  I was definately bullish on some players (hello Stephen Strasburg).   I’ll explain my thinking behind some of my draft picks.
