Fast Break: A Coach Killer, A Slap in the Groin,Dennis Rodman on US Foreign Policy, and Kobe Wine and Vinegar

First, welcome to Fast Break.  As you already know, the NBA is never short of drama, intrigue, and wicked performances, all worthy of making the night’s ticker.  Like you, I feverishly watch the ticker, sometimes many, many times, before finally turning the channel.  And when I find a few stories I like, then I’ll look into them – it’s just my routine.  So what I aim to do for you in Fast Break, is give you an idea of some storylines that I looked up based on basketball tickers that I found particularly interesting.  If you find any of these tickers worthy of your time, why not do a little digging – believe me, they’re worth it!

So, on with show – NBA Fast Break in 300 Words or Less:

Serge Ibaka is getting off with a slap on the wrist ($25k fine) in exchange for his slap in the groin directed at Blake Griffin.  LBJ and D-Wade apparently are none to happy as they took to Twitter to voice their displeasure.  LWOS weighs in with a solution – eye for eye, nut for nut – it’s only fair…… Oklahoma City will be playing the Sixers in Manchester, England, next October in a preseason contest. Perhaps they should field their third team squads just like Premier League teams do when they come to the States.  Take that, Sir Alex…… In a bizarre move, unsurprisingly, Dennis Rodman paid a visit to meet Kim Jong Un in North Korea. For obvious reasons the Whitehouse is none to happy.  No cheap jokes are needed here: Dennis Rodman is acting as a diplomat for the United States representing foreign policy.  Dear lord.  Apparently the North Korean is a big basketball fan, as is Obama.  Maybe Dennis is on to something?….. To say the Lakers season has been a disappointment is an understatement of Biblical proportions. One possible cause? The “Coach Killer”. Are you buying that Dwight Howard is behind the disaster? I just wanted to remind you of this little doozy from Stan van Gundy and Howard…… It looks like Kobe Bryant has earned the new nickname, “Il Vino“, Italian for “wine”.  The rationale is that just like wine he gets better with age.  I’d like to point out that wine that becomes too old becomes vinegar…… Careful, Kobe…… Finally, is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar actually considering a head coaching job in Milaukee?  Okay, the guy knows/knew how to score, but can he coach?  At least he’d be able to speak to his players at eye level rather than at crotch-level like so many coaches……
