News today out of Ottawa, the nations capital, that veteran national place kicker/ punter Chris Milo has signed a contract with the Ottawa Redblacks.

Milo had two impressive years with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and two bad ones. The latter lead the club to release him on July 6th, in favour of veteran Paul McCallum, the CFL’s second all-time leading point-getter.

The up and down Milo is only 28 years old. Drafted in the fourth round, 30th overall, of the CFL Draft by the Roughriders in 2011, Milo still has potential. His contributions were needed in the 2013 Grey Cup and in two Vanier Cup victories where he helped his Laval Rouge Et Or win the top prize in Canadian college football.

Now it’s Delbert Alvarado’s turn in the unemployment line. That’s nothing new for Alvarado as the Redblacks were his sixth team in just four seasons. The Honduran born PK/P will likely see another contract soon. After all, Alvarado is only 26 years old, he’s a whole lifetime younger than the aforementioned McCallum who turned 45 this past January.

The Redblacks also placed national defensive lineman Vincent Desloges on their practice roster today.
