Kings Jarret Stoll Arrested for Cocaine Possession

It has been reported that Los Angeles Kings forward Jarret Stoll has been arrested for possession of cocaine and MDMA at the  MGM Grand’s Wet Republic pool in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Las Vegas police Lt. Michael Mauntel said Stoll is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.

This comes on the heels of former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Malone being charged with DUI and cocaine possession in the summer of 2014.  It also follows the well-publicized arrest and charges of domestic violence placed against Kings defenceman Slava Voynov last fall.  Voynov has not played since his arrest, though his trial is quickly approaching.

Stoll, 32, had six goals and 17 points in 73 games this season with the Kings, and was a part of their Stanley Cup Championship teams in both 2012 and 2014, where he played an important role as the team’s third line centre and key face-off man. The veteran center has 140 goals and 379 total points in 792 career NHL games.

The National Hockey League has not yet released a statement on the arrest.

The Los Angeles Kings released the following statement:

“We are aware of police reports out of Clark County, Nevada regarding Jarret Stoll.  Our organization is concerned and has begun conducting a thorough internal investigation.  While we continue to actively gather facts, we are withholding further comment at this time.”

The Kings finished fourth in the Pacific division and barely missed the playoffs this past season.  The defending Stanley Cup Champions ended up falling short in the final week of the regular season, becoming just the 7th Stanley Cup Champion to miss the playoffs the following season.

Stoll is set to become an unresticted free agent come July 1st.

LWOS will continue to update you on the developments of the story.
