League Two Preview for the 3rd March 2015

Accrington Stanley vs Shrewsbury Town

With league leaders Burton Albion not playing on Tuesday, 2nd placed Shrewsbury have the chance to move level on points with the Brewers as they travel to Accrington. Stanley lost their first game in five games on Saturday but are unbeaten in their previous three home games. As for Shrewsbury, they look to get back to winning ways following two successive defeats.

Tranmere Rovers vs Wycombe Wanderers

Tranmere suffered another set back as they look to avoid relegation following Saturdays defeat at Cheltenham. They sit just one point above the drop and host a Wycombe side striving for automatic promotion. Wycombe’s form has been rather indifferent of late, and must put a winning run together, with sides behind them by just two points.

Bury vs Luton Town

On Saturday, both of these sides won 2-0, with Bury winning against play-off rivals Plymouth. The Shakers are again faced with a play-off team in Luton, who put two successive defeats behind them with a win at home to Accrington on Saturday. Only three points separate the sides, proof as to how tight the playoffs currently stand in League Two.

A.F.C Wimbledon vs Southend United

Southend travel to Wimbledon in the hope to put pressure on the top sides. The Shrimpers sit 5th following a 2-0 win on Saturday, and face a Dons side who lost away to bottom club Hartlepool. Barry Corr and Adebayo Akinfenwa will both be looking to add to their goal tallies on Tuesday night.

Newport County vs Mansfield Town

Newport move back into the playoffs following a win on the road at league leaders Burton. Jimmy Dack has taken charge of the Exiles until the end of the season and hopes to put a run together to keep them in the play-off places. Mansfield face a different challenge, as they sit just five points clear of the drop, despite a victory last time out.

Stevenage Borough vs Plymouth Argyle

Two sides that have slipped out of the playoffs meet at Broadhall Way, aiming to move back in contention with all three points. Stevenage had a torrid run at the end of January which saw them slide away, but are currently unbeaten in four, with three of those wins against top six opposition. Plymouth suffered defeat on Saturday following four successive wins, as John Sheridan and his side look to move back into the top seven.

Northampton Town vs Portsmouth

On Saturday, Northampton became the first side to take all three points at Shrewsbury in the league this season, and they host Portsmouth at Sixfields. Both sides are in-form, with Cobblers losing just once in 10 and have won their previous four home games. Whilst Pompey have moved away from danger following seven games unbeaten, and also haven’t lost away from home in their previous three attempts.

Oxford United vs Morcambe

Oxford United welcome Morcambe to the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday, with the U’s unbeaten in their last three home games. As for Morcambe, they are looking to bounce back from their defeat at home to Cambridge on Saturday.

Cambridge United vs York City

Cambridge claimed their first win in eight games on Saturday, whilst York find themselves one point above the drop zone prior to kick off. The Minstermen have won only once in their previous 10 games, and are without an away win in four attempts, whilst Cambridge, still too close to comfort to the relegation battle, search for wins to move them up the league table.

Dagenham and Redbridge vs Hartlepool

Dagenham and Redbridge host bottom club Hartlepool this Tuesday, with the Daggers looking to put back to back defeats behind them. Hartlepool haven’t won on the road in over 10 attempts, a run that needs to change if they’re to avoid the drop.

Carlisle United vs Cheltenham Town

A relegation six pointer takes place at Brunton Park where Carlisle host Cheltenham. The Robins claimed only their second win in 15 games at the weekend, whilst a four game losing streak has seen the Cumbrians slip into the drop zone.
