Cal Bears Commit Ross Bowers Interviews Impressively

Ross Bowers, 3-star California Bears commit, has said everything “right” so far.

We all know that Bowers can play. But that isn’t what separates him from other great quarterbacks coming into college.

In an interview with 247 sports, Bowers was truly impressive. Impressive in an interview? How could that be?

“I want to be that guy to come in and help turn things around. I look at it more as I wasn’t a part of that season. I know I will be a guy to come in and make a positive impact and continue making things better. I know they are recruiting as hard as they can and making adjustments. We talked about what went on last year and their plan to make things better. I believe in the plan, I think they were right and I like the plan.”

This is the usual stuff. Pretty much every recruit says that they hope to change the team in a good way and so on. But what he says from now on is unique and different (in a good way).

“I got to talk with (Jared Goff) on my visit and I realized he’s such a good dude and definitely be a guy I can look up to and definitely help me on my way. Being under him coming in as a freshman and trying to learn and soak up as much as I can from him. He’s a great guy and just try to be the best I can be in that program.”

What the 6’3 product said here was that he is willing to learn, which means he will probably be open to being redshirted. He knows that Goff is the main guy right now.

“I’ve always considered myself the underdog because that’s the position I’ve been dealt,” Bowers said. “That’s how I work out, that’s how I train, that’s how I tell my team how to act. I always try to keep that chip on my shoulder.”

Don’t you love hearing that from a young kid like this?  You can tell right away that his work ethic is strong. But this final part is the most important part of the interview.

“I’m not the type of kid to commit and look around or take visits. That’s just now how I was raised, I understand kids that do things their way, but that’s not for me.”

Give it up for Ross Bowers everyone. Does anyone remember the devastating Shaq Thompson moment? Well this will not be a case like that. Bowers is loyal, has a hard work ethic, and is ready.
