ATP Madrid Day 7 Predictions

Rafael Jodar vs Vit Kopriva

Head-to-Head: first meeting

In the absence of Carlos Alcaraz, the Spanish crowds had placed their hopes on Rafael Jodar to bring them some joy, and he has lived up to the expectations. In a battle of talented teenagers, Jodar defeated Joao Fonseca in three sets and has advanced to the fourth round of a Masters for the first time. He is improving with every match, and his ball striking looks not only powerful but also controlled. If he stays focused, I see him winning in straight sets against Vit Kopriva.
Prediction: Jodar in 2

Arthur Fils vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Head-to-Head: first meeting

After a hard-fought opening round match, Arthur Fils followed it up with a straight-sets win over Emilio Nava in the third round. Fils has played a lot of tennis recently, and fatigue could come into play at some point in this tournament. Tomas Martin Etcheverry is good enough to test Fils’ fitness and focus, but if the Frenchman plays his best tennis, he will have the upper hand.
Prediction: Fils in 3

Daniil Medvedev vs Flavio Cobolli

Head-to-Head: Medvedev 2-0 Cobolli

Daniil Medvedev is playing some good tennis so far and seems to have adjusted to the conditions pretty well. However, his level will be thoroughly tested against Flavio Cobolli, who played a much better match in the third round and will look to defeat Medvedev for the first time. If Cobolli played the way he did against Alexander Zverev in Munich recently, he would be in a prime position to win. I am going with the Italian.
Prediction: Cobolli in 3

Alexander Zverev vs Jakub Mensik

Head-to-Head: first meeting

This is a match a lot of people wanted to see because of the similarities in the game of these two exceptional players. Two-time champion Alexander Zverev was playing at a very high level against Terence Atmane for a set and a half before losing focus, which forced the match to a second-set tiebreak. The German won the tiebreak, but it looked like he had suffered an injury in the second set, which he confirmed in the post-match interview. He will need to be in full health to beat a player of Jakub Mensik’s calibre. I am backing the 20-year-old in this one.
Prediction: Mensik in 3
