Marie Bouzkova in action ahead of the WTA Prague Open.

WTA Prague Day 1 Predictions Including Marie Bouzkova vs Jessica Bouzas Maneiro

The WTA Tour continues in Prague for the Livesport Prague Open, an early hard-court event where players transition from clay and prepare for the North American swing. The opening round blends veterans, rising talents, and local players. Adaptation to faster conditions, serving strength, and momentum from recent results will shape outcomes in these compelling matches.

WTA Prague Day 1 Predictions

Ayla Aksu vs Sofia Costoulas

Head-to-Head: Costoulas 2-1 Aksu

Aksu makes the main draw as a lucky loser and will look to take advantage of the second chance. The Turkish player has spent much of the season competing on the ITF circuit, where her consistency from the baseline has helped her collect valuable wins. While she is comfortable on hard courts, stepping up to WTA level has often proved a tougher challenge.

Costoulas continues to build on an impressive season that has seen her climb steadily up the rankings. The Belgian qualified for the main draw with a pair of solid performances and has looked increasingly confident on hard courts over the past few months. She strikes the ball cleanly off both wings and has become much more composed when matches become physical.

Aksu’s experience should help her stay competitive, especially if she can extend rallies and disrupt her opponent’s rhythm. However, Costoulas arrives with momentum from qualifying and has shown greater consistency against stronger opposition this season. Her ability to absorb pressure before taking control of rallies gives her the edge.
Prediction: Costoulas in 2

Alycia Parks vs Lucie Havlickova

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Parks remains one of the biggest hitters on the WTA Tour. Her serve is still among the most dangerous in the women’s game, and when she finds her range, she can dominate matches with first-strike tennis. Although her season has featured some inconsistent results, she has produced encouraging performances during the summer and arrives with renewed confidence.

Havlickova receives plenty of support whenever she plays at home, and the talented Czech continues to develop after overcoming injury setbacks earlier in her career. She has qualified for the main draw and has looked comfortable in Prague, using her all-around game and excellent movement to frustrate opponents.

This match is likely to be decided by whether Havlickova can consistently neutralize Parks’ serve. If rallies develop, the Czech has the variety to make life difficult. Even so, Parks has the weapons to earn plenty of free points, and on a quicker hard court, that firepower could prove decisive over the course of the match.
Prediction: Parks in 3

Marie Bouzkova vs Jessica Bouzas Maneiro

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Bouzkova returns to one of her happiest hunting grounds as the top seed and defending champion. The Czech has consistently produced some of her best tennis in Prague, where her superb movement, consistency, and ability to redirect pace make her extremely difficult to break down. She also arrives after another solid season that has included a WTA title on clay, showing her confidence remains high.

Bouzas Maneiro has continued her steady rise over the past year, developing into a dangerous all-court player capable of competing well on every surface. The Spaniard likes to dictate with her forehand and has enjoyed several strong results this season, although she enters Prague after an early defeat last week.

The Spaniard has enough variety to make this competitive, but Bouzkova’s game is perfectly suited to these conditions. Her ability to extend rallies, absorb pace, and force opponents into playing extra shots has brought her repeated success in Prague. Combined with home support and her excellent record at this event, those qualities should help her progress.
Prediction: Bouzkova in 2
