Arthur Rinderknech 2025 Season Review: Career Best Season For No. 1 Frenchman

Arthur Rinderknech ended 2025 as the highest-ranked Frenchman and had his best professional season to date. The 30-year-old big-serving Rinderknech achieved career bests multiple times in 2025, and if he carries the same form in 2026, he may well become a player to watch out for.

Arthur Rinderknech 2025 Season Review

Disappointing Start to the Year

Rinderknech endured a terrible start to the season until the French Open. The Frenchman failed to move past the Round of 16 across thirteen main tour tournaments and numerous Challenger events.

His results at the Majors failed to exude any confidence, with first-round exits at the Australian Open and the French Open. He lost in straight sets to Jannik Sinner in Paris. This loss capped off a highly disappointing five months to start 2025, placing him at No. 81 in the world.

Exciting Turnaround in the Second Half

Rinderknech reached the quarterfinals at the Queen’s Championships on the back of some impressive performances. He notched up his first top ten win against Ben Shelton. He lost to Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets, but the tournament still helped the Frenchman gain momentum.

He backed it up by reaching the third round at Wimbledon for the first time. En route, he took out the third seed Alexander Zverev in the first round in five sets in one of the matches of the season. The Frenchman then proceeded to reach his first semifinal of the year in Kitzbuhel.

He failed to impress on the North American hard-court swing before the US Open, but at the fourth Major of the year, he reached the fourth round, his best performance at a Major to date. Alcaraz managed to get the better of him in straight sets.

Shanghai Surprise

The 2025 Shanghai Masters tournament was as unpredictable as ever. Valentin Vacherot won the title in a result no one expected, and, coincidentally, his cousin, Rinderknech, was the finalist. Rinderknech beat very high-quality opponents on the way, including Zverev, Jiri Lehecka, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Daniil Medvedev. By reaching the finals of the Shanghai Masters, he rose to a career-high of 27.

2026 Outlook

The Frenchman is no doubt at his best on the faster surfaces. Age is just a number, and even though he has entered his thirties, it feels like he is just discovering his best. Stan Wawrinka peaked late, winning three Major tournaments, so Rinderknech can keep improving his game and reach great heights.

His serve is his biggest weapon, but his baseline game has improved a lot. He is a fantastic net player, and he will look to continue to use it to rush his opponents, especially on the quicker courts.

2026 should be an interesting one for Rinderknech, and having tasted what the second week of a Major looks like, he will be hungry for plenty more.
