“Patrick is a proven goal-scorer who is dangerous inside the box and has a solid track record in MLS in his first five seasons,” sporting director and head coach Gregg Berhalter mentioned in a team release. “We believe that he brings a valuable skill set that will allow him to add depth to our attack and we look forward to integrating him into the team.”

Mullins has spent the past two and a half seasons in D.C. after coming to them via a midseason trade with New York City FC in 2016. In that time, he made a total of 44 appearances, 26 of which included starts, and registered 13 goals and three assists. One of his more impressive feats came on September 23 of last year against the San Jose Earthquakes. It was in that game where he scored four goals in a 31-minute span which set an MLS record.

The 26-year-old initially came into the league as a first-round pick (11th overall) of the New England Revolution in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. He was a reliable goal-scoring presence during his rookie season, netting four goals and adding two assists, one of which came in the playoffs. The Revs made it all the way to MLS Cup that year before falling to the LA Galaxy.

Mullins’ first opportunity to make an impact for his new team will come against one of his former ones when Crew SC travels to The Bronx to play NYCFC. The match takes place Saturday, July 14 and kicks off at 7 p.m. ET with YES Network providing national television coverage.
