Interim USMNT head coach Dave Sarachan received a contract extension on Tuesday. Sarachan’s term was quickly coming to a close by the end of this month. This agreement will stretch his interim role into June.

Dave Sarachan Receives Contract Extension
The former assistant, Sarachan took control of the team after his former boss, Bruce Arenas, failed to get the team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
After receiving the news he will have to shift focus to getting the team ready for upcoming friendlies. It’s a grueling schedule that will have the team playing against Bolivia, France, and Ireland. Prior to these games, Sarachan has nabbed two draws against Portugal in November and Bosnia in January.

He is happy about the news telling the Washington Post “it is something I wanted to do”. One look at Sarachan’s resume will show his experience being as a steward of the game. He was a part of Bruce Arena’s 2002 World Cup team that made it to the quarterfinals. The call to become the official head coach may never come. Sarchan still has high hopes to be held on in a different capacity by the U.S. Soccer Federation as the manager of the youth squads. Right now he adds much-needed stability to a team without a direction.
Sarachan Brings in Fresh Faces
Since becoming manager he has called up youthful talent that is making splashes across the Atlantic. One of those players is Paris Saint-Germain’s Tim Weah. Other talents from his age group joined the team in their practice facility in North Carolina to get ready for an upcoming friendly against Paraguay.
He is setting the lineup and is building a strategy. Only time will tell how long Sarachan will hold onto his position as the manager for USMNT. Experience is on his side to prove in the next coming months if he is the man for the job.
