Ice Ribbon returns to Korakuen Hall for their RE:BORN show in Tokyo, Japan on Feb. 20. The show includes three title matches and a deathmatch, making this is going to be a huge event for the promotion.
Miku Aono, Hamuko Hoshi and Nao Ishikawa vs. Ibuki Hoshi, Totoro Satsuki and Banny Oikawa
This show kicks off with a six-woman tag match. Miku Aono, who is a constant with ActWres Girl’Z, unfortunately, missed out on becoming their inaugural tag champion. Hamuko is the veteran of this team. Ishikawa has less than a year of experience in the ring but has been doing well, especially during Ice Ribbon’s P’s Party shows. Satsuki is the veteran hand on the other side of the ring, while she hasn’t won a main show match since January, she’s always exciting to see in the ring. Banny has the least experience on the team since transitioning from referee to wrestler but has been doing well on P’s Party. Ibuki has been featured on SEAdLINNNG recently and has really impressed in the high-speed style matches. This should be a nice opener for the show.
Tae Honma and Haruka Tsukushi vs. Thekla and Yuuki Mashiro
Since returning to Japan from Austria, Thekla has been annoying Tsukushi due to their upcoming IW-19 Championship match so this serves as a preview. Yuuki Mashiro has been on a roll ever since picking up ShuPro’s Rookie of the Year award, as her lighthearted antics have won the fans over immediately. Tae comes off a huge victory winning the ActWres Girl’Z Tag Championships alongside RebelxEnemy’s Maika Ozaki, teaming with Tsukushi makes for a strong pairing with a mix of speed and submission skills. Coming so close to their singles clash, Tsukushi will want to pick up a victory against Thekla to keep up the momentum.
Deathmatch Series: Yuko Miyamoto (666) vs. Suzu Suzuki
After the wrestling prodigy lost her IcexInfinity championship, Suzu Suzuki wanted to move on to bigger and more dangerous things. Being a deathmatch enthusiast thanks to her idol, Risa Sera, she had an idea of having a series of deathmatches to prove herself. In her first matchup, she faces Yuko Miyamoto from 666. Miyamoto is one of the top deathmatch wrestlers in the world, featured in companies such as Big Japan Pro Wrestling and DDT. This isn’t a first-time intergender match for Miyamoto as he has beaten the likes of Ayako Hamada and even captured the Pro Wrestling WAVE Tag Team Championships. While Miyamoto has been wrestling for the same amount of time Suzuki has been alive, there’s no telling what could happen in such a violent match and who will come out as the winner.
Ram Kaichow, Hiroyo Matsumoto, and Saori Anou vs. Mochi Miyagi, Kurumi Hiiragi, and Akane Fujita
A dream team of Saori, Hiroyo and Ram take on the Frank Sisters. This is Hiroyo’s first time back in Ice Ribbon since 2019 so it’s certainly a nice surprise especially for a big Korakuen Hall show. Ram has been incredibly successful since becoming a regular in Ice Ribbon, including several successful defences with her Triangle Ribbon Championship. Saori comes off a big match in DDT, although she didn’t win, she is certainly heading into a great year. After Kurumi and Mochi lost their tag titles to RebelxEnemy, they’ve been looking towards getting back into winning ways, especially as they’ve only beaten Ram once since she joined RebelxEnemy at last year’s RE:BORN show. Unfortunately for the Frank Sisters, they might not pick up the win, especially facing such a strong team.
FantastIce title match Risa Sera vs. Itsuki Aoki
It will be the eighth defense for champion Risa Sera as she heads into this match. Risa has beaten the strongest women Ice Ribbon have to offer including Syuri, Maya Yukihi and Rina Yamashita just to name a few. Aoki hasn’t made many appearances on the main show of Ice Ribbon as this is only her second appearance this year, but she currently holds the WAVE tag championship alongside Rin Kadokura and despite her lack of experience compared to Sera, holds her own in the ring. While Aoki certainly has a chance to pick up a true underdog victory, it won’t be easy as Risa Sera has positioned herself as a final boss of sorts. This match is one to keep an eye on for sure.
International Ribbon Tag RebelxEnemy Maika Ozaki and Maya Yukihi vs. Joint Army Cherry and Uno Matsuya
This is the second defense for RebelxEnemy and once again it’s against Joint Army. These two factions have been going back and forth since summer last year and every match they’ve had against each other has been a spectacle of skill. Maya Yukihi was featured on DDT’s Kawasaki Strong event in a winning effort alongside Saki Akai so has a lot of momentum heading into this match. Cherry, alongside Matsuya, has won a few matches against RebelxEnemy members however it’s been a few years since Cherry has defeated Yuki in any competition. Ice Ribbon definitely has a strong tag division but if RebelxEnemy wants to continue their dominant run, they’ll want to get a win.
IcexInfinity title Tsukasa Fujimoto vs. Rina Yamashita
The main event is the first defense for Tsukasa after defeating the young ace Suzu Suzuki for the title last month in what fans are expressing as their match of the year already. Currently, Rina Yamashita is the only member of RebelxEnemy to not have a championship in Ice Ribbon so naturally, she would be the first to challenge her. While Yamashita is holding two tag titles currently, aiming for the top singles title in the company is well deserved for how well she performed for Ice Ribbon last year — particularly against Risa Sera in their deathmatch for the FantastICE Championship. When Tsukasa defeated Suzu, one of her signature pinning combinations went viral on social media so this could draw a few more eyes towards this match. It would be a good start to her reign to get the win, but with Suzu on a deathmatch series, having Rina as champion during the series could make for an interesting match in the future. This has all the potential for not only the match of the night but it could even push for a match of the year spot.
