Pro Wrestling NOAH remains one of the few puroresu promotions to still do shows during this pandemic. Very recently, NOAH did a pair of shows on Abema TV and DDT Universe that did have some title matches. They were labeled at “Stay Together” and these shows did have some special moments, let’s get to these title changes
Katsuhiko Nakajima def. Takashi Sugiura to become GHC National Champion
The GHC National Championship is one of the newest championships in Pro Wrestling NOAH. In November, Takashi Sugiura defeated Michael Elgin to become the first champion. Since then, Takashi Sugiura has defeated Kaito Kiyomiya and Masa Kitamiya to bring that championship some legitimacy. But it was at the event labeled as “Nakajima vs. Sugiura” that the second champion was crowned. Katsuhiko Nakajima is a mainstay in Pro Wrestling NOAH, a former GHC Heavyweight Champion even. After a brutal 20+ minutes, Katsuhiko Nakajima defeated Takashi Sugiura for the National Championship. The first singles championship in NOAH for Nakajima since his GHC Heavyweight Reign in 2016. AXIZ now own the top belts of the promotion as both Nakajima & Go Shiozaki hold gold.
Yoshinari Ogawa & Hayata defeat Tadasuke and Yo-hey to become GHC Junior Tag Champions.
Before the main event of the previous show, we had a junior tag title match featuring Yoshinari Ogawa and Kotaro Suzuki facing off against the current tag champions Hayata & Yo-Hey. But this wasn’t a match without controversy. Because the ending screamed controversy as during the final sequence of the match, which featured a metora from Yo-Hey, Hayata superkicked his partner Yo-Hey and turned on the faction. The match would end by DQ due to some interference from the other members of the RATELS faction. Tadasuke got on mic and challenged his former partner and Yoshinari Ogawa to a junior tag title match.
But RATELs once again had bad luck. As the next night would be another damaging blow to RATELS as Yoshinari Ogawa and Hayata became the brand new GHC Junior Tag Champions by defeating the still somewhat new Tadasuke and Yo-Hey. This is the second time the faction known as “Stinger” has held these belts. Last time being in November of last year until March of 2020. It was also in this promo that Daisuke Harada would say that the faction known as RATELs is no more.
Synopsis
The factions in NOAH are drastically changing with these shows as turns are becoming more major. In the same show, former Stinger Member Atsushi Kotoge turned on the faction to join a new faction with Hajime Ohara and Seiki Yoshioka. This faction also kicked out NOSAWA and renamed the faction “Full Throttle”. NOAH is drastically changing as since the death of Wrestle-1 signings continue to happen. With ambitions to sign more new NOAH stars under the brand. What does the future hold for Pro Wrestling NOAH? Only time will tell.
