Pro Wrestling NOAH not only held the finals for their Global Tag League recently, but earlier today the winners (El Hijo De Dr. Wagner Jr & Renee Dupree) would challenge for the championships on NOAH The SPIRIT a show that featured 3 title matches, with two of them being title changes. Let’s get into it!
Kotaro Suzuki def. Yoshinari Ogawa for GHC Jr Heavyweight Championship
The GHC Jr Heavyweight Championship has had quite a few different champions to start the year of 2020 off, starting the year with Hayata, to the career rebirth of Yoshinari Ogawa to a brand new champion. Kotaro Suzuki is a veteran of Puroresu and has held this championship three separate times. Kotaro Suzuki in recent memory has also done work for AJPW’s Junior Division and now for the first time since 2018 Kotaro Suzuki once again holds the GHC Heavyweight Jr Championship after defeating his fellow compatriot in battle.
El Hijo De Dr Wagner Jr & Renee Dupree defeat Naomichi Marufuji & Maasaki Mochizuki for GHC Heavyweight Tag Championships.
In the main event of the show, the winners of the Global Tag League would face off against the current champions of Maasak Mochizuki and Naomichi Marufuji. This reign has gone on for 3 months, winning the title from Go Shiozaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima at the second show of the year. They had one title defense in Dragon Gate and made the second defense here, but it would be their last defense as the team that nobody expected to win the tournament have won the GHC Heavyweight Tag Championships as well. This is the first championship that both Wagner and Dupree have held for the company.
Synopsis
This show from NOAH is definitely the start of something major, with Wrestle-1 recently going out of business signings have begun already. Specifically Manabu Soya signing to NOAH and joining the Kongoh Faction. In terms of title matches, the heavyweight tag scene and junior scene have been changed drastically. The future of NOAH is bright with this partnership with DDT and being under the umbrella of CyberAgent. One major benefit of said change in ownership was this most recent tour being uploaded entirely to DDT Universe. While this show isn’t on DDT Universe yet, it will most likely be uploaded on DDT Universe at a later date.
