It was six months ago that the pro wrestling community was shocked by the news that a car carrying several of the Buffalo Brothers – upstate New York wrestlers Daniel Garcia, Kevin Blackwood, Kevin Bennett, and Puf – got into a weather-related accident, leaving Garcia and Blackwood seriously injured. But fortune has rewarded the wounded, as “Red Death” Daniel Garcia, who arguably had the worst injuries, returned to the wrestling ring on Saturday night with his home promotion, Buffalo’s Empire State Wrestling (ESW), where he defeated Brandon Thurston to become the new ESW Heavyweight Champion.

Daniel Garcia’s big victory in ESW comes less than a month after another of his Buffalo Brothers won the top title in one of their main promotions, as fellow accident victim Kevin Bennett captured the Smash Championship in Toronto at the beginning of the month.
What an amazing moment! Congratulations @DanielMTGarcia . Both he and @BrandonThurston put on an incredible, emotional, and highly technical match. Hats off to both. #AndNew #boththeseguys @ESWWrestling pic.twitter.com/pLSBIA30jS
