Melbourne City Wrestling kicked off 2019 with a very newsworthy show at the Thornbury Theatre last night, with MCW Vendetta.
AND NEW!!!! @DowieJames and @theadambrooksy, The LAW, have proven they’ve still got it by capturing the MCW Tag Team Championships #MCWVendetta pic.twitter.com/62lr9Gm61g

Most notably the MCW Tag Team Championships changed hands when The Law (Dowie James & Adam Brooks) defeated both SexRock (Elliot Sexton & Jonah Rock) and the former champions The Brat Pack (Mitch Waterman & Nick Bury). This was said to be the show stealer of the night, with Rock kissing Sexton mid-match being a major talking point.
A return to Australian wrestling for the former NXT star Mickey Nicholls was announced for MCW Uprising on February 2. Nicholls was a member of the tag team TM61/The Mighty in NXT (as Nick Miller) but was regular of MCW prior to his time in Pro Wrestling NOAH & then NXT.

Speaking of future shows two other matches were announced last night. Firstly, there will be a brother versus brother match at Uprising when Tome Filip battles Stevie Filip following their shocking split at the end of 2018.
Championship versus championship? Intercommonwealth Champion @slexthebusiness has just challenged MCW World Champion @MrGinoGambino to a winner takes all match. Will he accept? #MCWVendetta pic.twitter.com/oJOtuetzUX

Secondly, Clash Of The Titans on March 16 will be main evented by a champion versus champion match. Both the MCW Intercommonwealth Championship and the newly minted MCW World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line as Slex faces Gino Gambino.

In the final piece of exciting and positive news coming out of the show, MCW will be partnering with Souther Pro Wrestling (SPW NZ) for the Southern Rumble on July 13 for a combined Australian and New Zealand super show.
Unfortunately, the closing of last night’s show was marred by an ugly incident which saw an intoxicated, half-naked (from the waist down) fan jumping the barricade and attempting to rush the ring. In the process of attempting to enter the ring, the fan received a swift kick to the head from Gambino which subsequently knocked the invader out sending them home in an ambulance.
