Ever since Chase University burst onto NXT in 2022, the group has had many highs that have catapulted them into a faction that people take seriously. Andre Chase’s leadership skills have gotten the group over, with a student section wearing Chase U shirts present every week. However, this cheerful and peppy group hasn’t been immune from their share of troubles.
When a gambling scandal rocked the university earlier in the year, it looked like they were breaking up until Jacy Jayne saved everyone with a calendar launch. After Ridge Holland was accepted into the group, he turned on them, leading to a win at Halloween Havoc against Chase in an ambulance match. Now Chase is gambling on their future once again.
If he wins against Ridge Holland next week, he gets an NXT Championship match. But if he loses, Holland gets control of the university. Has Andre Chase gone too far or is he doing this to motivate himself and his students?
Andre Chase Knows What’s at Stake
In his three years as the Dean of Chase University, he has seen many different things happen with his star students. Duke Hudson had a redemption arc that no one thought would be possible, Thea Hail grew into a confident woman while shaking off Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nix, and Riley Osborne transformed into a reliable fighter from an unknown.
He’s been through so much with them, never betraying them and looking out for their wellbeing. The reason he’s offering Holland the university is that he knows his crew will never abandon him.
Wherever he goes, they’ll go with him, even if it means leaving the university. He’s seen too much destruction from Ridge Holland, so he’ll sell everything to keep his students out of harm’s way.
Has Chase Really Learned His Lesson?
When Hudson, Hail, and Osborne heard what was going to happen next week, they were understandably furious. They’ve already been through a gambling scandal once before and they have no Jacy Jayne to save them. Chase has their best interests in mind, but has he truly learned his lesson from what happened nearly a year ago?
Gambling is a huge addiction that doesn’t just go away. Chase obviously has a problem that affects not only him but his students as well.
Yes, he might get an NXT Championship opportunity if he wins. But if he doesn’t, he puts his students’ futures at risk.
He’s thinking of himself instead of thinking of the entire university. If he doesn’t realize that he’s gone too far, it may be too late to save Chase U.
What Will Happen to the University?
Before the match on Tuesday, Andre Chase has to sit himself down and realize what he has done. He has to weigh the pros and cons of his decisions. Either he gets himself a championship match while letting his students down in the process, or he fails to grab the brass ring while keeping everyone at Chase U learning and being good wrestlers.
Both scenarios have the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. While he’s fighting Ridge Holland, he has to keep that outline in the back of his mind.
If this is it for Chase University, it’s been an entertaining three years. But if Chase comes back strong, there’s surely going to be more magical moments that are in store for everyone to enjoy.
