The battle of legalities is finally ‘ovah’ as according to Justin Labar of Wrestling Inc., Matt Hardy has come to terms with Ed Nordholm and Anthem Entertainment to own all of the properties and characters that were created as part of the broken universe.
I am thrilled to PROCLAIM that we have ACQUIRED new ALLIES on our side of #TheGreatWar. Ed Nordholm & The Owl of Anthem have revealed themselves as MAJESTIC beings who stand on the side of the LIGHT.
The LIGHT always EMERGES, #WOKENWarriors.

This might come as a surprise for some, as Hardy has been using a version of his famed broken character in WWE for about a month now. However, it has been a shell of the once great gimmick and it would appear Hardy’s full lack of ownership has been the biggest detriment to everything fully taking off in WWE. So far, the Woken Matt Hardy has been reduced to crazed laughter, new entrance music, and the broken in-ring style which includes teeth chomping and biting. Fans have yet to see the full extent of the broken universe, although according to Hardy that is all soon about to change.
The INCOMPARABLE @BenjaminSenor is currently OPTIMIZING the green beans within the Greenhouse Garden at The Hardy Compound..
Trust me, #WOKENWarriors.. #SenorBenjamin, Queen Rebecca, King Maxel, Lord Wolfgang & @Vanguard1AAR will all be appearing IMMINENTLY..
STUPENDOUS! https://t.co/aymjtR1xD6

This is indeed stupendous news for fans of the beloved gimmick Matt Hardy created while in TNA. Seeing Senor Benjamin, Queen Rebecca, King Maxel, Lord Wolfgang and of course everyone’s favorite drone, Vanguard 1, is sure to bring back the excitement that seems to have been lost over the past several weeks. House Hardy was at the heart of the gimmick and encompassed a large part of why the broken brilliance was so special and so utterly unique.
However, as exciting as it will be to see House Hardy in all of its glory, there was one specific name omitted from Matt Hardy’s tweet, that of Jeff Hardy aka Brother Nero.
It’s quite possible that the omission was unintentional and that Matt was focusing in on the members of House Hardy who haven’t yet been seen on WWE. It’s also quite possible that the WWE’s woken universe, might not feature Brother Nero at all.
Could a Jeff Hardy Singles Push Mean the End for Brother Nero?
Not too long after the Hardys returned to win the Raw tag team championships at WrestleMania 33, rumors of a Jeff Hardy singles push began to circulate. Adding fuel to the fire was WWE itself, which released a video highlighting some of Jeff’s top singles moments in the company, including high profile matches against The Undertaker and The Rock. The focus was on Jeff as a singles competitor, seeming to suggest that WWE’s intent was to slowly transition him back into that scene.
Matt and Jeff held onto the titles until Extreme Rules, after which point the duo continued to feud with new champions, Cesaro and Sheamus as well as work primarily as a team, engaging in matches against The Revival and The Club among others. But the Jeff Hardy singles rumors persisted and on the August 28th episode of Raw, reached their zenith as Hardy won a battle royal to determine the #1 contender for the Miz‘s Intercontinental Championship.
Jeff’s history with the Intercontinental title was played up and while he lost the match, the crowd was firmly behind him, suggesting that a singles run could still be in the company’s best interest. Unfortunately, Hardy got injured not long after, and hasn’t been seen on WWE television since the end of September.
With his brother gone, Matt Hardy floundered for a bit, serving as a stand-in tag team partner for Jason Jordan, before finally transitioning to a feud with Bray Wyatt and debuting his new woken character. Despite the ongoing legal battle at the time, WWE was committed to bringing this character to life and it might not be a coincidence that they did it while Jeff was at home rehabbing.
As far as WWE television goes, Jeff Hardy has no connection to the woken universe being molded by his brother. He hasn’t been involved in it and perhaps WWE is intending to keep it that way, if the singles push for Jeff is still being discussed upon his return, which was pegged at six to nine months following his surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum in early October. That timeline means that WrestleMania 34 is not out of the question and if ever there was a time to re-debut Jeff as a singles competitor, that would be it.
That means it’s entirely possible that Woken Matt Hardy will have to go on without Brother Nero, something that could be beneficial for both sides. If this is the case, the brothers should be split, allowing Matt’s universe to flourish on Raw and Jeff’s singles push to take center stage on Smackdown. Separating the two is the best way to ensure that Jeff can remain un-woken. Fans will remember the broken brilliance began without Jeff, and while his absence would be notable, the universe can survive and thrive whether he is a part of it or not.
