Chuck Taylor Reclaims PWG World Championship, Ricochet Says Goodbye

Last night, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) held it’s PWG Mystery Vortex V, it’s annual show where none of the matches are announced beforehand. The main event ended up being PWG World Heavyweight Champion Ricochet defending his title against the man he won it from, Chuck Taylor. Taylor also happens to be the man who trained Ricochet and a mentor to Ricochet in his earliest days of professional wrestling, when they both wrestled for CHIKARA and Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW).

The match was held under Guerrilla Warfare rules (no DQ) and after a brutal match, Chuck Taylor scored the win and became a 2x PWG World Heavyweight Champion, joining Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn (as El Generico), Human Tornado and Frankie Kazarian as the only 2x PWG World Champions in the company’s 15 year history – Kevin Owens remains the only 3x winner.

Following the match, there was an emotional farewell for Ricochet, as both men took to the mic to praise the other, with Ricochet saying that without Chuck Taylor, Ricochet “wouldn’t be here.” It was the final goodbye for Ricochet as he prepares to join WWE’s NXT brand in the coming weeks. Ricochet was spotted at last week’s Smackdown Live tapings backstage, which were held in Orlando, with many assuming it was to finalize his starting details (although he could have just been visiting or getting an orientation).
