In some Joshi wrestling news, it has been announced that Kizuna Tanaka, the eldest daughter of Minoru Tanaka and Yumi Fukawa, will join Pro Wrestling WAVE and is set to debut in March 2023. The teenager will be one of the few wrestlers in Japan to have two wrestlers as parents.
Daughter of Minoru Tanaka & Yumi Fukawa Joining WAVE
Minoru Tanaka is a relatively well-known veteran in the puro sphere. The nearly 30-year veteran is currently a regular with GLEAT but has had runs in almost every major company in Japan. He is notably a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, AJPW Junior Champion, and GHC Junior Champion, who has also won junior tag gold seven times.
His wife, Yumi Fukawa is less known but was a member of All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling from 1993 until 1998. She is most remembered for her tag team with Rie Tamada, whom she won the Japan tag titles with, that was on the upswing in the promotion before Tamada departed as part of the talent exodus in 1997. Fukawa followed Tamada a year later and joined ARSION. Fukawa suffered a head injury in 2000 that inevitably caused her retirement in 2001.
Their daughter Kizuna Tanaka will join Pro Wrestling WAVE, run by ARSION alumni GAMI, in March of 2023 as it was agreed that she would finish her studies before stepping into a ring. Tanaka’s favorite wrestler is Ayumi Kurihara, one of the top Joshi wrestlers of the 00s, and Joshi fans are already hopeful that Kazuna takes inspiration from Kurihara when it comes to her in-ring style.
