Preview: WWE SmackDown (10/25/24) – MCMG vs. DIY, #1 Contender’s Match

A WWE SmackDown match graphic featuring the Motor City Machine Guns and #DIY.

The final WWE SmackDown of October will emanate from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New Jersey. WWE has had many memorable moments in this venue, and this week’s edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown promises to produce more with such an exciting card.

If you thought last week’s SmackDown was a sight to behold, then you do not want to miss a minute of the action this Friday night. With all that said, let’s get right into it. Here’s a preview of the October 25th, 2024 edition of WWE SmackDown. Let’s run it down.

Announced Card for WWE SmackDown:

  • WWE Tag Team Championship – #1 Contender’s Match: Motor City Machine Guns vs. #DIY
  • Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes (Part VII: Series Tied 3-3) – w/ Special Guest Referee: LA Knight
  • Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes Come Face-to-Face With WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther

The Ring General Comes Back to Friday Night

Cody Rhodes is hellbent on becoming the first-ever Crown Jewel Champion on November 2nd, and he made that crystal clear when he addressed the WWE Universe last week on WWE Friday Night SmackDown.

Unfortunately, he’ll have to face a man with whom he has a lot of history: the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.

Rhodes and Gunther have had some massive showdowns in the past two iterations of the Men’s Royal Rumble Match. Each time, Cody has come out on top, even though Gunther has come ever so close to dispatching the “American Nightmare.”

On this week’s SmackDown, less than 2 weeks before they’re set to face off, Rhodes has invited Gunther for potentially one last confrontation before the Crown Jewel PLE.

Will Gunther show up and make a final statement before the match? If so, Cody Rhodes will be waiting and ready to respond.

Dream Match Realized

On last week’s episode of WWE SmackDownNick Aldis pulled out one of the biggest surprises of the year as he officially signed one of the best tag teams of the past two decades to the Blue brand in the form of the Motor City Machine Guns.

After months of speculation, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are now WWE Superstars.

These two did not waste time making an impact, showcasing their innovative and high-octane offense for the WWE Universe on their way to winning against Los Garza and former WWE Tag Team Champions A-Town Down Under.

Their debut win was spectacular and effectively set them up with a date against #DIY to claim the number one contender spot for the WWE Tag Team Titles, which The Bloodline currently holds.

No time for rest, as the Guns are now in the thick of things and are only one win away from a shot at the top tag team prize in all of professional wrestling. However, it’s not going to be that easy.

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa also pulled off an amazing win in their Triple Threat Tag Team Match, so this bout can go either way.

Two of the world’s premier tag teams collide in a dream match of epic proportions; who will advance to battle Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa?

Let’s find out together this Friday night on WWE SmackDown, which you can watch only on the USA Network!
