Preview: WWE SmackDown (9/27/24) – Number One Contender’s Match for the WWE Women’s Title

A WWE SmackDown match graphic featuring Bayley and Naomi.

It’s the final WWE SmackDown of September, and it promises to be a good one. The Blue brand will air Friday night fight night live from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, inside the premises of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s home, Paycom Center.

We’re a little over a 8 days away from WWE Bad Blood, and this week’s WWE Friday Night SmackDown will be sure to amp up the excitement. Without further ado, here is a preview of the latest installment of WWE SmackDown. Let’s run it down.

Announced for WWE SmackDown:

  • WWE Women’s Championship – #1 Contender’s Match: Naomi vs. Bayley
  • Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes – Part VI: Andrade Leads Series 3-2

Back Against the Wall

On Friday’s WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Andrade has the chance to close this epic series out with his 4th win. However, is it possible that Andrade is not at the top of his game after his close loss to LA Knight last week for the United States Championship?

If that’s the case, then this opens things up for Carmelo Hayes. The former NXT Champion needs to win two straight and come back from this deficit to put an end to this rivalry once and for all. Regardless of the outcome, two of the most talented on the WWE payroll will collide once more.

It’s Hayes and Andrade Part VI! Can Andrade close it out, or does Melo have a lot more left in the tank?

Friend or Foe?

The number one contender for Nia Jax’s WWE Women’s Championship at Bad Blood was supposed to be crowned on last week’s SmackDown. It was simple: Bayley and Naomi were against Jax and Tiffany Stratton. If the former won, whoever got the pin gets the shot.

Well, apparently, it wasn’t that cut and dry. Naomi and Bayley did win the match. Unfortunately, they both pinned the champion simultaneously, leaving us without a clear challenger for the Queen of the Ring at the October PLE.

Nick Aldis immediately stepped in and announced that on this week’s show, it would be all for the marbles. There will be a winner. It’s Bayley going up against one of her greatest friends, Naomi.

Both are former champions in their own right. So, it’s only natural to assume that they will stop at nothing to win this bout, even if it means going through each other.

Will Bayley get a shot to reclaim the gold? Or will Naomi do the unthinkable and face the “Irresistible Force” next Saturday night for the WWE Women’s Championship?
