It’s time for Hell in a Cell to return in a big way at WWE Bad Blood, and it should go to the women.
Let me explain.
Judgment Day Is Hot
There is no faction in WWE hotter right now than the Judgment Day. The group has always been popular but Liv Morgan’s infiltration as part of the Revenge Tour elevated the storyline to new heights.
Liv Morgan claimed to take everything from Rhea Ripley and at SummerSlam, she accomplished just that. The Women’s World Championship, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, and the rest of Judgment Day belong to her. Ripley lost it all but it is only a matter of time before she takes back what matters most. Her title.
At Bash in Berlin, the Terror Twins—Ripley and Damian Priest, defeated Morgan and Mysterio, but it is not over yet. Their feud is will likely carry on to next month’s Premium Live Event, Bad Blood, and should culminate with one of WWE’s most brutal stipulations.
The History of Hell in a Cell
So why a Hell in a Cell match specifically at Bad Blood? For those who know their history, the inaugural Hell in a Cell match occurred at Badd Blood: In Your House back in 1997. At the event, Shawn Michaels took down The Undertaker to become the number one contender for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.
Since then, we have seen dozens of matches with this stipulation, the last at WrestleMania 39 between Edge and “The Demon” Finn Bálor. Bianca Belair and Bayley were the last women to enter the cage in June of 2021–a whole three years ago. Another one is long overdue.
The main event of all three previous Bad Blood shows featured a Hell in a Cell match. Morgan and Ripley’s bitter rivalry and exceptional in-ring skills qualify them for this spot.
Ripley Needs Her Redemption
While Morgan initially began the feud as a babyface, we can all get behind Ripley reclaiming her title. Even though she is truly the victim in this situation, there is something too cool about Rhea “Bloody” Ripley. She needs to win back the gold to end this for good.
Even during her heel championship run, Ripley was far too over with the crowd to be booed. With Becky Lynch’s foreseeable absence, Raw needs a top face to carry the brand.
This reign has allowed Liv Morgan to prove herself as a champion, much more than her previous reign in 2022. Just a few years ago, we wondered if WWE would ever give a title to Morgan. Now she has held the Women’s World Championship (formerly the SmackDown Women’s Championship) twice and the Tag Team titles twice.
With bright futures ahead of them, they deserve the top spot at Bad Blood.
