Bash in Berlin was a resounding success for WWE, which has built up quite a track record of putting on fantastic international shows. Although there were only five matches on the card, WWE was able to put together a compelling night of wrestling.
There was great wrestling, great entertainment, and an intense feud that had the crowd eating out of the wrestlers’ hands. Berlin was up to the task, but it is now in the rearview and the WWE machine will keep rolling.
What direction should WWE take following their latest PLE? There are plenty of options, but below are some of the more intriguing decisions that Triple H and company should institute.
Who Is Next For The Ring General After Bash in Berlin?
Gunther’s first championship defense was a solid match, and Randy Orton was a great first opponent, but it’s time to move on. Plenty of men on the roster would love to get their shot at glory but the best option has to be Damian Priest.
CM Punk has stated that he wants his shot at the championship but Drew McIntyre will factor into him not getting a shot, or at least not a decent chance. That leaves the former champ Priest to get his rematch.
A rematch that he never got and one that would build on their previous SummerSlam match. Priest is also in a better space as a babyface, and it would be a great dynamic for the rematch.
Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens Should Continue Their Story
There aren’t a ton of men ready to challenge for the WWE Championship. Solo Sikoa has stated his intention to challenge Cody Rhodes next but he will be tied up with Roman Reigns for the foreseeable future.
What WWE needs to do is continue the story that Rhodes and Kevin Owens have built over the past month. The teased Owens heel turn made for captivating television.
His want to pull some underhanded tactics during their championship match was interesting. You could see the inner turmoil building to cheat his way to a victory, and WWE could play this out for a while.
Weeks of Owens slowly reverting to his heel ways would make for a great main-event program.
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre Will Enter Hell
McIntyre and Punk have been embroiled in the most personal feud of 2024. With every coming week, their hatred intensifies, and their matches have reflected this.
This past Saturday, their strap match was great and was one of the hardest-hitting contests of the year. It only makes sense that their next logical step is to walk into Hell in a Cell.
Hell in a Cell is a match reserved for only the most bitter programs. You don’t get more bitter than everything that has taken place between McIntyre and Punk.
Every potshot has been taken between the two and their matches have been building with its violence. With Bad Blood next on the schedule, a Hell in a Cell match would be a great selling point for the show and a great way to blow off McIntyre and Punk’s problems.
Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and Liv Morgan’s Drama Continues
The mixed-tag match was great but there is still a lot to be resolved in this love triangle. Rhea Ripley, without a doubt, will want to recapture the championship that she never lost, and Liv Morgan is standing in her way.
Also, as much as she walked away the victor on Saturday, Ripley didn’t get all the violence in on either of the people who wronged her. Ripley is getting over huge as a babyface and Dominik Mysterio – along with Morgan – is a huge reason why.
The fans are into it and the story has not been finished by any stretch. Expect things to keep going well into the fall.
Jade Cargill Needs To Turn Heel
Jade Cargill has improved exponentially since her debut. She has always been an impressive psychical specimen but her in-ring work has left little to be desired.
Now that her in-ring game has improved, it is time to break her away from her tag team and into the singles market. The best way to do this would be to have her turn on her championship partner.
Cargill has been spinning her wheels since her debut. Her tag team partnership with Bianca Belair has been great but it’s time to see what she can accomplish on her own.
Turning on Belair would be a perfect way to get her started. Belair is a popular character so the fans would turn against Cargill easily.
Cargill also has a natural arrogance that WWE could lean into to get as much heat as possible.
