Why LA Knight MUST Win the WWE United States Championship at SummerSlam

WWE SummerSlam is filled with matches enticing to almost every wrestling fan, but one of the most intriguing matchups has to be the clash over the United States Championship. Logan Paul and LA Knight have woven a great story in the leadup to Saturday.lead-up

It has taken us outside the ring and to a better-than-average contract signing. It had been a program that had everyone clamoring to see what would transpire between the two loudmouths.

There are so many ways that their championship match can go, but the one direction it must follow is Knight walking away with the strap. It is Knights match to lose and here are some reasons why.

Rewarding Consistency

To begin with, this is LA Knights’ time. He has been consistently the “most over” performer on the roster and has nothing to show for it. Sure, the fans’ adulation is great, but it means little when you have nothing to rest on.

Knight has spent years toiling away on the mid-card. He has been in some great matches, AJ Styles and Roman Reigns come to mind but has walked away none the better in the long run.

He has been the favorite in the past two Money in the Bank matches and came up on the losing end. He has lost every big title opportunity he has been given. It comes to wonder whether LA is a man who can close the deal. Which is why his win this weekend is essential.

A Consistent Mega Push

LA Knight needs to be shown to be a true contender. If he keeps losing his chances soon, they will no longer be there. The fans will only side with Knight for so long if he keeps losing.

As Paul said in their promo on SmackDown, Knight will be known as the man who couldn’t get it done. There goes WWE’s chance to cultivate a future world champion. He needs to win this title and go on a reign that the world talks about.

Full-time Fighter

The time has also come for SmackDown to have its mid-card championship back. Logan Paul winning the championship was a great story and did wonders for the mainstream exposure of the title, but it has run its course.

Paul has other commitments, outside of WWE, and this has caused him to be used sparingly. It devalues the title and deprives us of a lot of intriguing matchups.

Knight winning the title gives the championship more of a focal point on WWE programming. The office will put its weight behind LA Knight, and this can lead to some great rivalries with other stars of the blue brand.

It can be a chance to use the strap to elevate so much other talent and groom Knight for the main event. Knight can do what Gunther did for the Intercontinental Championship.

The Paul Era Has Ran Its Course

Finally, it is flat-out time for Logan Paul to drop the United States Championship. He has had good matches throughout his run but there hasn’t been enough of them. Where does Paul even go from here? The fans have begun to grow weary of his sporadic appearances and if he continues with the strap WWE could run the chance of them turning on him completely.

He could start getting the go away heat that every wrestler dreads.

What WWE needs to do with Paul is use him more of an attraction than anything. Going against stars like John Cena would be big-money matches. Matches that would allow Logan Paul to waltz into the company when he can and leave when he needs to.

For these, and many other, reasons WWE needs to pull the LA Knight trigger. Saturday needs to be the defining moment of the man’s career, ending with him lifting the United States Championship.
