WWE SummerSlam 2024 rolls through the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, August 3rd. Thus far, seven matches have been confirmed for the event, with six of them being title matches.
With this being the second-biggest event in the WWE’s yearly calendar, the promotion has loaded the event up. With all the action set to take place, it can be expected that the show will have no shortage of surprises and standout moments.
Heading into SummerSlam weekend, there are already some rumors and expected moments going around. These are the five bold predictions for what could actually go down at SummerSlam.
5. Tiffany Stratton Will Make Her Intentions Clear
Tiffany Stratton won the Money in the Bank briefcase at the 2024 event. She is still less than a month into her reign as the briefcase holder.
Over the last month, Stratton has aligned herself with the reigning Queen of the Ring, Nia Jax. Together, the two have managed to be a dynamic duo and consistently be a thorn in Bayley‘s side.
At SummerSlam, Jax looks to trade her crown for the WWE Women’s Championship currently held by Bayley. The problem is, this could be a prime opportunity for Stratton to cash in her briefcase – regardless of who is the champion.
Although what Jax and Stratton have has been working for them, they both know that it is temporary. At the end of the day, it’s all about the title. When needed, they will not hesitate to turn on each other.
At SummerSlam, Stratton will definitely make her intentions clear – whether Jax wins the gold or not is irrelevant. Stratton has recently made it clear that “Tiffy Time equals title time.” Now, it’s just a matter of her letting Bayley and Jax know at SummerSlam.
4. Alexa Bliss Will Return… But Won’t Immediately Join Wyatt Sicks
One of the rumored returns we are expecting at SummerSlam is Alexa Bliss. She has been away from in-ring competition since early 2023 due to non-kayfabe maternity leave.
At this point, her return seems imminent and, with the arrival of the Wyatt Sicks on Raw, it’s easy to picture her being slotted in there. But maybe – just maybe – she might not immediately link up with the Wyatt Sicks.
In the last few months of Bliss’ activity before her leave, she was seen battling with the inner turmoil of the duality of her character. Perhaps, she will still be dealing with that emotional turmoil when she gets back.
It could be that the Wyatt Sicks will have their work cut out for them trying to get Bliss to join them. The easiest thing would be for Bliss to immediately align with the Wyatt Sicks but she could just shock wrestling fans.
3. Seth Rollins Will Screw BOTH CM Punk and Drew McIntyre
Seth Rollins will serve as the special guest referee in the grudge match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. Punk and McIntyre have a feud that has been going on for several months, so it makes sense that this is one of the most anticipated matches on the SummerSlam card.
The match’s intensity is only elevated by the presence of Rollins, who has made it clear that he has issues with both Punk and McIntyre. It can be expected that Rollins will somehow find a way to top his July 29 Raw outfit at SummerSlam – but that won’t be the only talking point.
At SummerSlam, Rollins will somehow manage to screw BOTH Punk and McIntyre. Or, at the very least, he will definitely try to do so.
Rollins has found himself in the middle of the issues between Punk and McIntyre and, at SummerSlam, he gets the chance to deliver some revenge. With the referee’s discretion in his pocket, we can expect that Rollins will make the most of the given opportunity.
2. The Judgement Day Will Help Rhea Ripley Win The Title
There are so many factors at play with the Liv Morgan versus Rhea Ripley match at SummerSlam. The two are clashing for the Women’s World Championship but it feels like there’s more at stake for both Morgan and Ripley.
The Judgement Day has had a turbulent few weeks, and this included Ripley getting injured, Carlito joining the group, Morgan trying to work her way into the group’s good graces, and even Finn Balor acting suspiciously. At SummerSlam, these factors could all come into play but the main question is whether The Judgement Day, in one way or another – will cost Ripley her title shot.
Dominik Mysterio has made it clear to Morgan that he belongs to Ripley. But, perhaps Balor is the one the group should be worried about swaying, as he has been making questionable moves in recent weeks.
Regardless of all of that, The Judgement Day could actually pull a swerve and assist Ripley with winning the title at SummerSlam. After all, if there is anyone who can restore the group to its former glory, it is definitely Ripley.
1. Paul Heyman Will Return With Roman Reigns
One of the biggest rumors heading into SummerSlam weekend is that Roman Reigns will return at the event. Reigns has been on hiatus since his Undisputed Universal Championship loss to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.
Another major player in The Bloodline that has been absent recently is Paul Heyman. Of course, Heyman was brutally ejected from The Bloodline on the June 28 edition of SmackDown, after failing to acknowledge Solo Sikoa as his Tribal Chief.
SummerSlam would be the perfect opportunity for Heyman to return but – now knowing what Sikoa along with Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu can do – he would not be coming alone. It can be expected that Heyman will return with Reigns in tow, leading to a heated confrontation sometime during Sikoa’s match against Rhodes.
If not, it can be expected that Heyman will probably return with a message or warning from Reigns. Perhaps this could be a simple statement or it could be a returning Jimmy Uso or even a debuting Hikuleo.
Either way, Reigns can be expected to make his presence felt at SummerSlam, and he will use his trusty Wise Man to do so.
