WWE SummerSlam is the second biggest show of the WWE year. It rivals WrestleMania in importance and cities worldwide bid to hold ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer.’
Cleveland is the latest city to get the honor of hosting SummerSlam. It will be a huge boost to the area’s economy and is sure to be one of the year’s best shows. WWE has pulled out all the stops to ensure their visit to The Land is memorable.
We know that Indianapolis will be hosting shortly, but some other cities should get some consideration. Some have hosted SummerSlam before and some are looking to have it for the first time. Below are five candidates for which city should be next.
Miami, Florida
SummerSlam is going the way of WrestleMania, what with it taking place in stadiums as opposed to arenas. This will be a determining factor for future shows and why not have Miami be host to one of those shows?
Miami is a custom fit for a SummerSlam. It is a warm-climate city that would have no problem hosting a huge show. Hardrock Stadium is the type of venue that has held Super Bowls and Copa America games.
It would be a great site for Summerslam, and it holds a capacity of over 65, 000. Those are the types of numbers WWE would love to have for their second biggest show of the year.
Florida is the Sunshine State. It is exactly what one thinks of when the term summer is mentioned. The beaches, the heat, and the sun would be a perfect fit for The Biggest Party of the Summer.
Seattle, Washington
Seattle doesn’t get much love when it comes to big WWE events. Outside of Wrestlemania XIX, they haven’t held much in the Emerald City. This is a shame because WrestleMania was one of the best in history and the city did a fantastic job of hosting the event.
It has been long enough that a return to Seattle for SummerSlam would be a fantastic idea. The Pacific Northwest is a beautiful area and WWE could have a lot of fun with marketing and setup for the event.
A teal-colored logo with a nautical theme would be an awesome visual for the show.
Hosting in the Seahawks home stadium of Lumen Field would be the icing on the cake. The stadium is built to produce as much noise as possible and WWE could set some records on that night.
Green Bay, Wisconsin
Having an outdoor show would never work during the winter months, but why not have SummerSlam make its way to Lambeau Field? The history of the stadium alone would warrant it being host to one of the biggest shows on the WWE calendar.
Green Bay is not one to have many WWE shows and this seems like a great time to pull at this thread. The Mid-West is one steeped in wrestling history and WWE would be able to work this into their show. Plus, who wouldn’t want to see the cheese heads take over SummerSlam?
Kansas City, Missouri
WWE has been branching out a lot with its PLEs. They have gone to various international cities but could stand to branch out in their backyard. Starting with bringing SummerSlam to the home of the defending Superbowl Champions.
Kansas City might never be as popular as it is right now. Winning back-to-back Superbowls has them at the height of their popularity and WWE would be wise to capitalize on this.
Also, Travis Kelce, and his retired brother, are WWE fans filling the docket for some great celebrity appearances.
Not much comes to the Mid-West. WWE would be wise to bring The Biggest Party of the Summer to Arrowhead. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many fans of the area.
Raleigh, North Carolina
Raleigh is another city that doesn’t get the love it should from WWE. There have been shows booked in the city but nothing that would bring the excitement like SummerSlam would.
It is a huge show and going to beautiful North Carolina would be a fantastic idea.
There is a deep wrestling connection to North Carolina. We are talking about the NWA backyard. It would give WWE a great chance to parade out the stars of yesteryear for our amusement.
Raleigh is also home to a great outdoor stadium. Carter-Finlay Stadium is a gorgeous stadium with some great visuals from the sky at dusk.
It would be great to see WWE hold an entrance with the sun setting in the background. Add to that an attendance that could easily get over 60,000 and you have a great SummerSlam.
