WWE SummerSlam: Previous and Possible Celebrity Appearances

WWE SummerSlam: Previous and Possible Celebrity Appearances

It’s the time of the year when SummerSlam 2024 is finally approaching! The card for this premium live event has been so stacked over the last few years that, beginning in 2026, SummerSlam will become a two-night event like WrestleMania.

Until then, WWE needs to fit all of the excitement from SummerSlam into one night. Over the past ten years specifically, we have witnessed many celebrity appearances at the biggest party of the summer.

Many of them stepped into the ring and showed off their skills. Let’s examine some celebrities who have inserted themselves into stories at SummerSlam over the last decade and who we may see appear this year.

The event will be held at Cleveland Brown Stadium in Ohio, a state home to many stars.

Stephen Amell – 2015

The star of The Arrow, Stephen Amell, made his in-ring debut at SummerSlam 2015. He fought alongside Neville against Stardust and King Barrett in a match that pleasantly surprised the fans.

Sometimes, it can be controversial for a celebrity to have a match because they are often on the sidelines for most of the match. However, this match was different.

When Amell stepped into the squared circle, he showed off his athletic ability and how much he trained for this match, even diving from the top rope to outside the ring. Amell also committed to the story appearing on the weekly WWE episodes, building a feud against Stardust and an alliance with Neville.

Amell certainly gained the respect of many fans through his brief run in WWE.

Jon Stewart – 2015/2016

One of the few controversial celebrity appearances among fans was Jon Stewart, the former host of The Daily Show. Stewart hosted SummerSlam 2015 and ignited a feud with Seth Rollins in the weeks leading up to the premium live event.

However, Stewart turned on John Cena at SummerSlam 2015, helping Seth Rollins win the WWE United States Championship. Many fans disliked interference in a match like that one.

The match was so anticipated by fans with a great story and it can be disappointing when there is no clean winner. However, this turn helped enhance Rollins’ heel character, as he often cheated to win then.

It also continued the feud with Cena and Rollins.

The following year, at SummerSlam 2016, Stewart was a celebrity guest. Later in the night, Stewart joined The New Day in their battle against Gallows and Anderson.

Big E returned before Gallows and Anderson could do too much damage to Stewart. Stewart’s involvement in stories was entertaining; it was just questionable how much he had to be included in a significant story.

Many were disappointed by his participation in the feud between Cena and Rollins, leading him to be mostly ‘booed’ by the crowd the following year.

Pat McAfee – 2022

At SummerSlam 2022, Pat McAfee showed he always retained his athletic ability from the football field. He arguably had one of the best celebrity matches in WWE against Happy Corbin.

It was an intense and personal match, taken inside and outside the ring. McAfee was resilient throughout the entire match.

He was not only able to give a fight, but he was also willing to receive one. He took nasty hits from Corbin, getting thrown into the barricade, over the announce table, and more.

Ultimately, McAfee picked up the win. McAfee stunned the crowd with his athleticism.

From doing sunset flips to superplexes and jumping outside of the ring, he blew the minds of everyone watching. Undoubtedly, he was athletic, but this type of athleticism isn’t just from the football field.

McAfee has gained the audience’s respect both outside and inside the ring.

Jelly Roll – 2024

It is highly teased that one of the celebrity guests this year will be country music star Jelly Roll. He has two official theme songs for SummerSlam 2024: “Dead End Road” and “Liar.”

He is also part of the official SummerSlam 2024 promo video. There is also no secret that Jelly Roll has some history with the company.

Jelly Roll previously attended Raw on November 27, 2023, and ended up shoving JD McDonagh and “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio during a match with Randy Orton.

When announcing the theme songs for SummerSlam 2024 on X, Triple H even included a little tease at the bottom of the tweet asking if Jelly Roll would be free to perform the songs. Jelly Roll responded, “Sounds like a good time to me, Bubba! I’ll have my people call your people!” It seems promising that we will see an appearance and a performance by Jelly Roll.

Jake Paul – 2024?

Logan Paul will defend his United States Championship against LA Knight at SummerSlam 2024, raising the question of whether anyone will come out to help Paul win. Paul is no stranger to bringing a few of his social media friends into the wrestling world.

Internet star KSI appeared dressed as a Prime bottle at WrestleMania 39 and, at WrestleMania 40, IShowSpeed was the friend in the Prime bottle.

Ohio is home to Logan Paul and his brother, Jake Paul. Will we finally see Jake Paul’s WWE debut?

Ever since Logan debuted, people can’t help but speculate more about when Jake will appear rather than if he will appear. In an interview with Forbes, Jake Paul expressed interest in becoming WWE Tag Team Champions with his brother at some point in the future.

Currently, Jake is heavily involved in boxing, with a fight against legend Mike Tyson in November. Jake is no stranger to the fighting scene and is athletic, just like his brother.

Will SummerSlam 2024 be the time we see an appearance from Jake Paul? Will another one of Logan’s friends show up instead?

Cleveland Browns Players – 2024?

It is common for football players to make appearances in their home state. Considering SummerSlam will take place in the stadium where the Cleveland Browns play, it wouldn’t be surprising if a few players appear.

Cleveland Browns players Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, and others have previously attended WWE shows.

Maybe we’ll see them again or some new faces. There may even be some involvement in a match. The only way to find out will be to tune into SummerSlam 2024 on August 3.
