5 Old PLEs That WWE Should Bring Back

WWE just announced the return of the Bad Blood PLE for October 5 in Atlanta, Georgia. This will be the first Bad Blood event since 2004.

The PLE is best known for introducing the Hell in a Cell match, with the first being in 1997. With the return of Bad Blood, what other old PLEs could return to WWE?

This article will determine 5 old PLEs that could make a return to WWE.

No Way Out

WWE No Way Out has had a long history in WWE, with the first event taking place in 1998. It was then a mainstay in the Ruthless Aggression era.

It was used for elimination chamber matches in 2008 and 2009 before being replaced by the Elimination Chamber PLE in 2010. This one is simple.

I believe that WWE should replace Elimination Chamber with No Way Out. Continue the tradition of the elimination chamber match before WrestleMania but change the name of the PLE.

No Way Out has a better ring to it and would be some nice nostalgia for the fans. WWE has also been removing many of the PLEs with a match type in the name such as Hell in a Cell and TLC.

There are multiple reasons that support the return of No Way Out.

Cyber Sunday

With the influence of social media growing by the year, it’s surprising that WWE has not brought back Cyber Sunday. This was one of the more unique ideas in WWE history.

Introduced in the mid-2000s, Cyber Sunday was a fan interactive show. The fans voted on aspects of the show, including match stipulations and participants.

The fan interaction gives the fans a chance to be included and provides an incentive to tune in. The last Cyber Sunday was in 2008, which was before social media erupted.

With WWE’s social outreach, imagine the traction they would get for Cyber Sunday in 2024. Cyber Sunday is fun for the fans and would be a smart business move for WWE.

Bragging Rights

WWE Bragging Rights was a short-lived PLE, only lasting two years. The SmackDown vs Raw concept was interesting but was executed poorly.

It was too close to Survivor Series and it felt like the brand supremacy didn’t matter. The lack of stakes hurt the shows.

In today’s WWE, there would be a better chance of it working. With Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis as GMs, there is a way to make Bragging Rights work.

Brand supremacy could be fun if they find a way to incentivize the matches. If WWE can get creative and up the stakes of the event, they should consider bringing back Bragging Rights.

Night of Champions

WWE brought back Night of Champions in 2023, but they changed the original concept of the show. Previously, every WWE championship was defended at Night of Champions and that is what should return.

Every title being defended would likely be too much for one card but there are ways around that. You can have 6 or 7 matches on the show and then have the remaining titles defended on the Raw or SmackDown before.

WWE has an issue in that some titles rarely are defended on PLEs. Night of Champions is an effective way to get the underutilized championships on a big show and would give the champions more of a spotlight.

Armageddon

With the Royal Rumble moving into February, WWE could want a PLE in between Survivor Series and then. This is where WWE Armageddon fits in.

Armageddon was a December staple in WWE for years. It didn’t have a specific theme or match but not every PLE needs that.

It had a special energy and was home to many great moments. Armageddon would be a nice way to keep the interest high between Survivor Series and Royal Rumble.

With the new PLE schedule, WWE should consider Armageddon.
