Preview: WWE SmackDown (6/28/24) – Live from Madison Square Garden

A match graphic for WWE SmackDown live from Madison Square Garden in 2024.

This week’s WWE SmackDown will emanate from the “Big Apple,” New York City, in the ‘world’s famous arena’ Madison Square Garden.

The WWE Universe knows quite well how historic this building is for World Wrestling Entertainment. MSG is quite possibly the spiritual home of the company, with the inaugural WrestleMania taking place in the arena in 1985.

The Blue brand’s superstars are ready to ignite the ring and create new memories for this new era of professional wrestling fans. They are geared up to deliver the best brand of sports entertainment, promising an unforgettable experience for everyone.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into the excitement. Here’s a thrilling preview of this week’s WWE Friday Night SmackDown. Let’s run it down.

Full WWE SmackDown Match Card:

  • Men’s Money in the Bank – Qualifying Match: LA Knight vs. Logan Paul vs. Santos Escobar
  • Women’s Money in the Bank – Qualifying Match: Naomi vs. Blair Davenport vs. Indi Hartwell
  • Women’s Money in the Bank – Qualifying Match: Candice LeRae vs. Jade Cargill vs. Tiffany Stratton

Fight for the Right

This week’s WWE SmackDown will feature three Triple Threat “Money in the Bank” Ladder Match qualifying matches: two for the women and one for the men.

These nine individuals have the opportunity of a lifetime to advance to the titular ladder matches, win the briefcase, and effectively earn themselves a guaranteed shot at a World Title whenever they want for a full year.

With all that said, some of these qualifying matches carry baggage. Let’s start with the lone men’s qualifying match. The ‘Megastar’ LA Knight and United States Champion Logan Paul have been at each other’s throats for a while now. Knight wants the U.S. Championship, but Paul refuses to give him a shot at it.

On last week’s SmackDown, Knight made it crystal clear that he would qualify for the men’s MITB Match and finally win his first piece of WWE gold in the form of the United States Championship.

After a fierce exchange with the third man in this Triple Threat qualifier, Santos Escobar, LA Knight, got blindsided by Logan Paul with a devastating knockout blow.

These developments certainly provide more intrigue, considering the disdain LA and Logan have for each other. Escobar should try to exploit that animosity and go for the kill when the opportunity presents itself.

Over on the women’s side, fresh WWE Friday Night SmackDown acquisition Blair Davenport issued a stern warning to Naomi. She wants to make an impact and wants to do it in the biggest way possible.

The same can be said about NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton. It’s been “Tiffy Time” for a while on SmackDown, with Stratton impressing everyone night in and night out.

Tiffany considers herself the ‘center of the universe,’ and Michin is tired of hearing about it, considering Mia Yim has lost her opportunity to qualify for the match.

For her efforts, Stratton got a brief beatdown from the former The O.C. member until the Queen of the Ring, Nia Jax, entered the fray.

If you think Tiffany Stratton was dangerous, then a potential alliance with Jax could be her way of booking her ticket to the Money in the Bank PLE in Toronto, Canada.

A lot will go down on WWE SmackDown in New York! So, don’t you dare miss it! Catch all the actions live only on Fox!
