Former NJPW pillar Tama Tonga and Bullet Club founder has officially joined WWE. This past Friday night on WWE SmackDown, Tonga made his company debut by attacking longtime The Bloodline member Jimmy Uso, effectively ousting the former WWE Tag Team Champion.
This is big for the company considering the wealth of experience and star power Tama Tonga is bringing the company, especially to a seemingly deflated Bloodline. Let’s take a brief look into how Tama is related to The Bloodline and his many accolades.
Bonded by Family
While he’s not related by blood to the Anoa’i Family, Tonga’s father Haku, or Meng for the WCW fans, is considered part of this circle.
Haku and the Anoa’i Family have a tremendous history with one another. This bond led to Haku being welcomed by the Anoa’i family with open arms and they consider them their own despite their biological differences.
Achievements and Accolades
Tama Tonga debuted for NJPW back in 2010; that’s 14 years of amazing work with Japan’s premier wrestling company. In his time with the promotion, Tonga co-founded one of the most impactful stables the industry has ever seen in the form of The Bullet Club.
Apart from that, Tama has amassed countless championships, being a seven-time IWGP Tag Team Champion with his brother Tanga Loa, collectively known as the Guerillas of Destiny or G.O.D. for short.
He also won the NEVER Openweight Championship an impressive four times, with six stints as a NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion to accompany it.
A New Chapter
On the first SmackDown after WrestleMania XL, The Bloodline gained a new member. Unfortunately for Jimmy Uso, the group was not big enough for him and Tama Tonga.
The former G.O.D. member took out Jimmy as a form of consequence for his loss at WrestleMania XL at the hands of his brother Jey Uso. It’s not quite clear if the “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns had any hand in this decision. However, it seemed like the “Wise Man” Paul Heyman begged to differ.
While the WWE Universe may think The Bloodline was done for when Reigns was defeated by Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, it seems like The Bloodline always has a plan B. Regardless of what anyone feels about this heinous attack, we’re entering a new era for The Bloodline.
