Preview: WWE SmackDown (4/12/23) – First SmackDown After WrestleMania XL

This week’s WWE SmackDown deals with the fallout from WrestleMania XL, and there’s a lot of them. WrestleMania 40 was a tremendous show that saw the Blue brand crown new champions. It’s safe to say that we’ll see these new conquerors in this latest installment and make their intentions clear moving forward for WWE Friday Night SmackDown.

No matches have been officially announced for this week’s Friday night fight night. However, it’s the SmackDown after WrestleMania, so the WWE Universe should expect something really excellent. For what has been announced, let’s talk about it. Here’s a preview of WWE SmackDown. Let’s run it down.

What to Expect – WWE SmackDown After WrestleMania XL:

On WWE Monday Night Raw, it was announced that the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes and WWE Women’s Champion Bayley will be on this show. Rhodes showed up on Raw, confronting The Rock before he went away to conduct business.

In that conversation, it seemed like The Rock is not at all done with Cody, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens between them in the coming months.

As for this Friday night, there are a lot of hungry challengers just waiting for their shot at the new “Face of WWE.” What does Cody Rhodes have to say on this week’s SmackDown? From one division leader to another, Bayley makes her first appearance as the new WWE Women’s Champion.

Her and IYO SKY cultivated one of the best matches in WrestleMania history. While Bayley has finally achieved her crowning moment, like Cody, there are a lot of wolves in that locker room wanting to get their mitts on her title. It could be in the form of Damage CTRL or the women responsible for their downfall at the ‘showcase of the immortals’: Jade CargillBianca Belair, and Naomi.

Apart from all these, expect The Bloodline to make a statement, with or without their ‘Tribal Chief’ and ‘Final Boss,’ especially considering the mighty institution fell in the blink of an eye on WrestleMania XL Sunday. While we don’t know much about this week’s SmackDown, that’s the fun of the post-‘Mania week of WWE programming.

If Raw was anything to go by, this week’s SmackDown on Fox is something the WWE Universe will not want to miss!
